Man is inventive. Throughout the years he has found and developed ways to make his life easier and his existence more bearable. And yet, not everything he creates is necessarily useful; not every invention fashioned by his superior mind works for his convenience.
This page is dedicated to some of the inventions man can defineitely live without.

Stupid Invention # 1:

The CALOY™ Flood Detector
Working on the principle that flood water has conductivity, The CALOY™ Flood Detector is one gadget every person should have and own!
The operation of the aparatus is simple. It beeps the moment water reaches it.
The CALOY™ Flood Detector is attributed to a professor from the College of Engineering of the P.U.P.
As is reported to have been stated by its inventor, “It doesn't take a rocket scientist to develop something like this—especially for us Manileños, who basically live with the fact that despite any government effort, it just floods here every frigging year.”
What's good about The CALOY™ Flood Detector is that it can also be a flood LEVEL detector. With its belt clip, you can wear the device on any part of your body.
Everyone agrees. Floods may be a natural phenomenon no one can predict or control, but with The CALOY™ Flood Detector, it doesn't mean we can't detect it.

Person Positioning System (PPS)
Inspired by the internationally popular Global Positioning System (GPS), the Person Positioning System (PPS) is a device that tells a person his or her orientation.
The Viewing Screen
In the display pannel worn by the person appear 3 bodies, which are in fact representation of the person's body as seen with respect to the 3 axes of a 3-dimensional space.

As shown in the figure, there 3 are the person's Pitch, Roll, and Yaw.

How to Wear It
Figure 1 shows how the PPS is worn. The unit is strapped onto the person's torso. With the CRT screen set on an angle against the breastplate, the person needs only to look down to see the information output by the PPS, i.e., the persons position.
Added Features
A "slightly modified" version of the PPS has an altimeter and a speedometer to tell the person's altitude and speed.
Goggle-like eyepieces can also be attached to the unit and worn, so the user doesn't need to constantly look down at the screen, thereby reducing stress around the neck.
Power Source
The PPS is powered by a 220V AC source.
