Step 1: Paper creases. Fold five modular pieces. (Hey, that rhymed!) |
Step 2: Fold square in half as illustrated with colored side out and spine facing up. Fold darkened crease inward to look like the illustration in step 3. |
Step 3: Fold darkened crease inward to look like the illustration in step 4. |
Step 4: One modular unit created. |
Step 5: Attach modular units together by slipping long pointed ends into pockets of neighboring units as illustrated. Use a little dab of rubber cement or tacky glue if you want to permanently anchor the pieces together. Rubber cement works best as a modular anchor as it is less likely to create warping and curling. |
Step 6: Finished umbrella mat. Use hot glue or tacky glue if you want to permanently anchor the umbrella mat to the paper doll. |
