Jason
Kay - Vocals |
|
Jason
Kay was born a December 30 of 1969, in Streford Manchester. His
mother Karen Kay was a night club singer and TV variety hostess
during the 70´s, and Jay´s early life passed traveling around the
country with his mom.
Unfurtunately, Jay never met his Portuguese father and he had a
twin brother who died at only six weeks. But the life turns on and
on, and he decided to left school. That action lead him to live
on the streets.
By 1989 he was living in a taxi depot, but that wasn´t an obstacle
for him and bought a drum machine and through a friend, copped some
free studio time to record some demos. And some years after... well,
you know what happened.

Toby
Smith - Keyboards |
|
Toby was born October 29th 1970. As a youngster he studied classical
piano, and musical talent seems to run in his family. His dad has
made two records with Dudley Moore.
Making his first record when he was 17, he then discovered house
music. From there he got a record deal with the dance label Fffr,
and started making music under the name "Kleptomaniacs".
He met Jay Kay through a mutual friend in 1992, and as they say,
the rest is history.

Jamiroquai member Nick Fyffe joined the band in 1998 and made his
live debut for them in 1999 on the band's sell-out 'Synkronized'

perfectly.

Wallis
Buchanan - Didgeridoo |
|
It
seems that Wallis was not part of the recording of "A funk
Odyssey" but we have not been informed about his departure
of the band. So ..
Wallis Buchanan was born in London, but his parents came from Kingston,
Jamaica.
On the early days he used to skating with Jay in Boston Manor Ealing
located at the west of London. He learnt to play didgeridoo with
a plastic tube and around 1992, Jay asked him to play it on the
intro of "When you Gonna Learn" performing like heaven, so he played
it again in the middle of the song.
That’s the story of Mr. Buchanan, who since the early days has been
part of the band.
