Book of Shadows Bide the Witch's laws we must
In perfect love and perfect trust.

Okay, I'll start this one off.
To me, this couplet means that we need to remember that we everything that we do needs to be done with love and trust or it is not done right.

~ Luna

Bide the Wiccan Laws ye must pretty much is just what it says, no reading between the lines here but the next line "in perfect love and perfect trust" well this to me means that you must have pure love in your heart and intentions and have "perfect" trust in them as well. Not only in the laws but in the practioners that you share ritual and your magickal workings with. You must trust yourself enough to create your sacred space and perform your magick with the best intentions. If you have any bad or hurtful emotions which can alter the outcome without you even knowing it. So therefore, perfect love and perfect trust in your heart and mind to bide the wiccan laws. :)

Here is my thoughts on the wiccan rede. First let me say that I do not consider myself wiccan, I am a hereditary eclectic witch, but I feel the rede stand for the good of all witches, wiccans and pagans. I am disappointed to see so many wiccans taking out the and ye harm none, unless in self defense verse....but other then that I think I pretty much live by the rede.

Bide the Wiccan Laws we must

all wiccans, witches and pagans that are true to their beliefs follow these laws the wiccan rede witches crede or what ever else you want to call it, we follow these as the laws of the god/goddess and as magickal workers.

In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.

This can grouped in two parts, first that our working should be done with perfect love and perfect trust. The second is that we have perfect love and trust in that which we are doing and with the higher powers that lends us the energy to do our magickal workings. This shows the relationship between us , our workings, the gods and goddess and the unity of all, trusting in each other to work our magick.

I feel that the first couplet means simply that we must follow the "law" (which I see moreso as a guide) while holding "perfect love and perfect trust" that the Mother and Father will help to guide and assist us as needed.
