Network Engineer Summary of Projects:
Design and implementation of campus network building blocks using multi layer switching technology. The original network was
designed as a flat-switched network. As the size of the layer 2 switched network increased, traffic volume outgrew the network
capacity causing application timeout and network resources unavailable. Our responsibility was to edesign and configure a
hierarchical IP network from layer 1 connections to layer 3 routing. Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP) and multiple connections
to critical server provide redundancy. SNMPc on Windows NT and Cisco Works for switched Internetwork (CWSI) were installed and
configured to provide monitoring and trend analysis. The implementation was completed using Cisco Catalyst 1900 switches on each
floor as an access point and Cisco Catalyst 5513 switches at Distribution layer with 2 RSM║&hibar;s for redundant core location.
Implementing BGP in an enterprise network. Client chose 2 service providers, multiple connections to different ISP║&hibar;s
requiring BGP 4 to be configured on the network║&hibar;s ASBR (Autonomous System Border Router).
My responsibility was to deploy peer router configurations based on the information offered by the ISP║&hibar;s and define
attributes used for path selection. Static and default routes also implied on the ASBR. Implement network traffic control
at branch office ruter. Client required a dedicated connection separate from existing T1║&hibar;s for two workstations requiring
heavy data/video transmission. No physical changes on existing LAN were allowed.
My responsibility was to configure an access list on the router║&hibar;s outgoing Ethernet interface that only permitted traffic
to pass through two authorized workstations while allowing them to gain access to existing LAN/WAN connections. ║ ╓ Cisco router

Lead member of an architecture team, which designed a new retail production network to initially support 4000 dual homed stores
throughout the US.
The design consisted of ATM (OC-3 Sonet and DS-3) and Frame-Relay technology on the WAN and Gigabit Ethernet in the redundant
Data CentersA LAN.
Key network components used in the design were CiscoAs 8540MSR ATM/Ethernet Switch Router, Cisco 6509 Catalyst Switches with VLANs
and a variety of Cisco routers.
I designed and configured test setup and tested the 8540MSR switch router, 6509s switch, 2621, 2611 and 3640 routers for network
design validation.
I designed the Network Management Architecturewhich was a fully redundant and fault tolerant design that scaled to 40,000 nodes.
This architecture was built around the HP OpenView NMS using IT/O and Node Manager.
Other management tools used in the architecture were CiscoWorks2000 and NetCool.
The network architecture utilized the ATM/Frame-Relay Interworking Function (IWF) to do translation and allow communications
between the remotes sites (frame-relay) and the data centers (ATM).
I led and coordinated technical aspects of the ATM and Frame-Relay services with the service provider.
Other responsibilities included designing and specifying Network Security using CheckPoint firewalls running Stone Beat for
redundancy and failover, pricing and ordering network components and tracking overall component costs.
I participated in researching technologies such as Voice/Video over IP. TCP/IP was the only protocol suite used on the network.
