GENGHIS KAHN
I am the mighty Genghis Kahn, proud descendant of the Palace guard cats
of China and Siam, and self-appointed defender of my home. I grew up
with a Schipperke dog as my only four-legged companion and playmate, and
to this day have no fear of dogs. But, as I have claws of steel, and
teeth that can rend bone, I have no need for fear. Except for the
dreaded squirt bottle, and Nikita, when I hiss her off by teasing her
too much.
I love to travel, and will walk nicely on a lead, wearing my red leather
harness. My favorite foods are spaghetti and bacon, and my favorite
occupation is playing with the computer mouse. Especially when Meowmie
is trying to play Solitaire.
I am actually quite affectionate to my humans, but do not like visitors
in my house, as I never know if they might harm my humans. However, I'm
very gentle with kittens and puppies. It must be the protecting part of
my personality at work. |

SOPHIE
I am approximately two and one half years old and a tortie.
I was thrown away by careless people and found just after I gave birth to three kittens in a cardboard box. I am affectionate and was a good and patient mother. My kittens have all been adopted, and I have been spayed so there'll be no more kittens for me! I'm glad my babies all found homes.
I have been living in a foster home of the Melrose Humane Society since my babies were adopted. My foster Meowmie's name was Claire and she took care of over twenty-seven cats in her home. My present Meowmie and Deowdie adopted me on December 8, 2001. I am a very shy cat and did not come out of hiding for days although I did come out when the house was quiet. I am very glad that my Meowmie and Deowdie adopted McGee who had become my friend in the shelter. We were living in the basement room. I was very stressed when I was put into the cat carrier. The famous cat Revere came down from his high perch and gave me a "nose nudge" to quiet my mewing. I had been sponsored by Lloyd who passed away to the Rainbow Bridge. Meowmie told me that Lloyd was a kind, caring cat.

McGee's Story:
I am a five year old red tabby.
I'm very friendly and was doing so well when my humans decided not to pay the rent! They skipped town and left me behind. Talk about irresponsible! Worse, they had me declawed and then left me out in the wild to fend for myself. How am I supposed to do that without claws? But the Society found me and took me in. I am very grateful to Claire, my foster Meowmie, who took care of me for two months. She named me after my landlord who found me and called the Melrose Humane Society.
On December 8, 2001, I was adopted by my present humans. I have taken over Deowdie's place on the sofa. I stayed in the computer room at my new home with Sophie to keep her company. She is a very shy cat. We two cats had to learn how to get along with Shirley who just turned one year old on December 14, 2001. Shirley is a very high energy cat. I am glad that CLAW sponsored the Melrose Humane Society because now I have a new home.

Shirley's story
I am a one year old calico and I am a very high energy cat, and quite affectionate. I was born at the Melrose Humane Society. I was kept in the foster care home attic room by myself because of my energy. My foster Meowmie Claire took good care of me. I remind her of her own calico cat who lives in the main house with her.
I was adopted by my present Meowmie and Deowdie on December 8, 2001. I stayed in hiding for only two hours then took over the whole house. I climbed and snooped everywhere. (Girls just want to have fun.) Meowmie and Deowdie have already given me a "pet" name..."Missy , Missy, Miss Miss Miss". I have calmed down a little and spend my nights sleeping with Meowmie on her bed. I have enjoyed meeting and playing with the two other adopted cats McGee and Sophie. Meowmie decorated her live Christmas tree yesterday afternoon and I helped her. I was so tired from decorating that I fell asleep on the tree skirt that she had placed under the tree for over an hour. The boroque CD that she played after decorating the tree might have had something to do with my tiredness.

It all started back in 1996, when meowmie wanted to get a black kitten because she had lost her first kitten named Sheba and Blessed needed a playmate because meowmie couldnt have Ringtail at the time. She went to the Stephenville Humane Society and looked around. I was way too young to be adopted so meowmie was able to foster me for alittle while until I became what is known as a permenant foster.
I couldnt believe my first night at the new place because Blessed being the male he was decided to watch me use the litter box because that was his litter box and I was his new sefer. He enjoyed hissing at me and all.
Well, in 1996, meowmie had some illness strike her with carbon monixide so she had to decide between me and Blessed to moving in the new place and she chose me allowed Blessed to go to pawpas house. I ended up hafing to stay there by myself though in the new place because meowmies illness just got worse. Well, this is when we were able to move into an apartment in Fort Worth with pawpa and we began our family as it is today!!
I have four other siblings and one sefer pup. Their names are Blessed, Ringtail, Zackery, Prince Ray and the dogs name is Maggie! Ringtail is the one that started the Historical Society and she plans to get more involved again because we all love History and she misses the guild allot!
Well, this is my History!!

My name is Samantha Taylor but everyone calls me either Sam or Sammie. I'm a
Chocolate Point Traditional (Apple Head) Siamese with blue eye. I was born
in Penn. on Aug 29, 2001 so I'm 12 weeks old. I live in DC with meowmie,
daddy, Bubba and Tabitha.
Meowmie and Daddy talked about getting a kitten so Tabitha would have a
friend since she's only 1 and everyone else was older. Then Jazzy got sick
and went to the Rainbow Bridge. Jazzy was an Applehead Siamese, meowmie and
daddy both like that breed alot and wanted another Applehead but not the
same color as Jazzy. Meowmie looked all over for an Applehead Siamese and
finally on Sept 11, she found a lady in PA who had kittens that could go to
their new homes in the beginning of Nov. Meowmie drove all the way to PA to
visit me then a few weeks later we rode for 2 1/2 hours to my new home! The
same day I came to my new family, I joined CLAW.
I like to play and run especially with Tabitha and get into everything!
Meowmie says I'm a pawful! |

TABITHA
I'm a Y2K kitty, which means I'll be 2 on Jan 1. I'm a a brown and black
Classic Tabby, (which is how I got the name Tabitha) and big light green
eyes. I live in Washington DC with my mom, dad, big brother, Bubba and baby
sister, Samantha. Mom and dad adopted my from a Rescue Shelter.
I lived my first few months in a sewer with my real brother and sister. One
day some man came into a sewer and saw us living there. His wife worked for
a Rescue Shelter, the next day she was in the sewer trying to convince us it
was ok to get in a cage. After awhile she finally got us and took us to the
shelter. My sister got adopted right away but they said I was unadoptable
because I wasn't socialized. One night when I was in the shelter, one of the
ladied there was on the phone with someone. The lady wanted a female kitten
but was told the only female kitten was me and I was unadoptable. The
shelter lady talked on the phone for awhile asking alot of questions. The
next day was adoption day at PetSmart. I always watched alot of the other
kitties go away for a few hours...some came back and others didn't. I was
really suprised when they put me in a carrier to take to adoption day. At
PetSmart all the other kitties were placed so humans could visit with
them....I was kept in the back in a cage. Later that night a man came and
they brought me to the front. He filled out a bunch of papers. He picked up
the carrier and put me in a loud, moving thing. We rode for awhile then we
stopped and brought me inside a house. There was a lady there and 2 cats,
Bubba and Jazzy, the lady said "Welcome to the family". My name at the
shelter had been Rebel but mom changed it to Tabitha.
The first 3 weeks I hid under mom and dad's bed. Mom would come into the
bedroom alot and lay on her tummy so she could see me. At first she just
talked with me then she'd put her hand under the bed then would put a
feather on a stick under the bed so we could play. After 3 weeks I came out
from under the bed. Mom was so happy that she called the rescue shelter to
tell them I was out from hiding. They were impressed the mom was able to get
me socialized in only 3 weeks...they thought it would take longer.
I got to know my new brother and sister. Bubba was ok but didn't do much. I
loved Jazzy and followed her all over the place. I figured if I watched
everything she did I'd learn the ropes. At first Jazzy didn't like me
following her but then would come look for me if I wasn't behind her. I
didn't like to be picked up or carrierd...I still don't. I also was a fast
kitty so it was very, very hard for mom to get me in the carrier...one time
a vet appointment was canceled 7 times because of that. My vet didn't want
to traumatize me.
I joined CLAW right away. I went to the Kittengarten and at graduation was
given a special award called "You've come a long way kitty" I joined the
Back Seat Kitties Support Group, Social, Special Needs and On The Prowl. I
had a CLAW big sisfur and big brofur. Penny Bobb was the big sisfur and my
big brofur was Rhett Kincaid Butler. They were very nice to me and taught me
alot. I was even the Valdictorian for the last CLAW Graduation. I was really
sad when CLAW closed.
While CLAW was closed, the vet told mom that Jazzy was a diabetic and had to
get shots everyday. I didn't want Jazzy to get the shots alone so I was
always with her. I tried my best to take care of Jazzy because I loved her
very much.
It was a happy day when CLAW reopened. Bubba was back to co-leading the Back
Seat Kitties Support Group. Jazzy was the Vice President of CLAW, Senior
Officer of Groups and Guilds and co-led a bunch of groups. I tried to help
Jazzy and always paid close attention to what she did. Things were going
great untill last summer when Jazzy got very sick. When she needed a blood
donation, mom took me so I could give blood to my big sister. I hated the
trip to the vet but would do anything for Jazzy. Jazzy went to the vets alot
and mom was always talking on the phone to a vet. One day mom and dad went
to the vet, when they came back mom was crying alot. I knew something was
wrong and tried to comfort her. Soon I realized Jazzy was never coming back.
When Jazzy didn't come back, I took over Jazzy's CLAW jobs. I worked very
hard because more than anything I wanted Jazzy to be proud of me.
Today I still have those jobs in CLAW and I miss Jazzy alot but now have a
little sister, Samantha. We play alot. Bubba is still just ok. I guess I've
done pretty good for a kitty that came from a sewer and was unadoptable.

I'm a 12+ year old male manx. My coloring is grey and black tabby with white chest and four white paws. I moved into my current home in April 2001. My old meowmie had to move far away and couldn't take me. So I got a new home and furmily. Now I have a meowmie, a fafur, a hewman sisfur, a hewman brofur, 2 d*gs and my kitty brofur, Midnight, and my kitty Nephmew - Luv.
I love attention and I love to be in the house with Meowmie. But I don't like it when she gets out that black thingy that makes funny noises and has flashing lights. I think she calls it a camera. The little dog, Molly, is always trying to kiss me. YUK! The big dog, Rocky, would like to eat me.
Charlie Cat |
I'm a long haired black male kitty. I'm also a true Halloween kitty cause I was born on October 31, 1992. I've got big golden eyes and they always glow when meowmie tries to take my picfur. I've got one brofur - Charlie and 2 d*gs Molly and Rocky. Molly's a dachshund and Rocky's a boxer. I also live with my nephmew Luv. He's a black kitty, too. Then there's my meowmie, fafur and hewman sisfur and hewman brofur.
Charlie's not only my brofur - he's my best furriend. My ofur best furried is Biffy York. I don't make furriends to easily because I get hissy if someone invades my territory. Charlie's the furriendly one. But with my meowmie and my family, I'm furry loving. Meowmie spoils me. She always spends extra time with me so that I know I come furrst. Mew see - Luv moved in with us in January 2001 and then Charlie moved in with us in April 2001. Fur a while, my nose was way out of joint cause I thought meowmie wouldn't love me anymore. But that was just silly. I'll always be her baby.
In the picfur, I was stalking a grasshopper. Meowmie says it shows off my catsome black fur.

My name is Carolina Kitty and I'm a rescue cat, born and raised in Arkansas and now living in eastern North Carolina. I am one of the lucky few. Rescues do not usually fare as well as I have so I am very thankful to my rescue mom, Ms Dixie and my adoptive mom, Goose.
Ms Dixie captured my children and I after a lot of work convincing us that she was one human who would not harm us. We learned to trust her and understood she wanted to help us. When we moved into her "cat-condo" and calmed down a bit, plans were made to have some necessary surgery done at the vet. After being spayed, Ms Dixie asked around for an adoptive mommy and found Goose. Goose didn't have any cats because she and my adoptive dad, Ernie, breed exotic birds. (I told them I wouldn't eat too many, but their birds are a little too pricy to be hors d'oeuvres...) so I was their first feline baby. It was a real effort to behave around their 4 doberman pets, too.
When I settled in a bit, I joined CLAW and got my education, first graduating with an Honorable degree in May 2001, and then graduating with two Masters Degrees in August, 2001. Now, I plan to attend College to find a career, but in the meantime, I have joined the Historical Society and will be bringing some interesting facts to you in the future. Please check back often to read my updates. |
PURRSONAL HISTORY of SERVO & JUDE
 |
Palomino was nicknamed Pal and lived by proxy for a while in Washington.
He always resided in Arkansas but Ms SuSue didn't think she wanted any cats. She had birds, and she had two knot headed but adorable d*gs. She didn't think she would like to have a cat, but Pal's and Sir Wally's meowmie is a very sneaky HuMom. She tricked SuSue into building a web site for Pal, and joining CLAW to educate him. Now SuSue has THREE cats, and still loves Pal from a distance. Her kitties had to leave CLAW so Palomino is back working from
Arkansas and sending "keep loving those cats" vibes to Washington.

Mews, Sir Wally,
I was born 12 years ago in Hampton Roads, Va. In December of that year, our meowmie came down (she drove 5 hours!) to pick up my sifur, Bridget and myself. I now live in Centreville, VA and have lived a fairly uneventful life, doing what all Siamese do...eat, sleep, and be admired while snuggling with my meowmie. I have had few illnesses but one great sadness in my life when my beloved sisfur Bridget went to the Rainbow Bridge last October.
Purrs,
Conor
Mews, Sir Wally,
I was born Janurary 25,2000 to a sort of feral furmom who lived at Lorton Prison in Lorton, Va. I lived there with my own prisoner until the prison closed...broken hearted by prisoner had to leave me behind when he left and I was fostered by a nice lady from the SPCAA until my meowmie Kate met me ...since then I have lived in Centreville, VA with my grumpy brofur Conor and have gotten used to living in a real home, with a meowmie who dotes on me. My job is to chase Conor around the house (so he gets his exercise) and knock things off shelves and occasionally cuddle with my meowmie. I also watch birds and squirrels and groundhogs out the windows of our home, but I never want to live outside again.
Purrs,
Annie
