Chapter 2
You're Here...There's Nothing I Fear

Hermione sighed as she sat down at her oak desk. She shivered as the water droplets dropped onto her back. Her quill sat in a bottle of green parchment. Thinking of Harry she wrote to Professor Minerva McGongall, who was still teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Minerva, I've had some problems concerning Harry. I don't know what or where he is. As you know Harry 'died' shortly after defeating Lord Voldemort. Well, now his spirit is haunting me. Yesterday, Draco Malfoy and I were at the Leaky Culdron and we were using the muggle Oujia board. He came to me, Minerva. I don't know what to do. In my heart, I still love him, but I don't know where he is, or what he is doing. Please help me. You've always been there for me, even when I left Hogwarts. Please write back as soon as possible. Fondly, Hermione

Hermione sealed the evelope and gave it to her owl, which was a brown burrowing owl that she adopted when she found him after being abandoned by his parents. He hooted as she rubbed him under his beak. "Send this to Professor McGonagall." She whispered, as he soared away into the night. Hermione crept downstairs to the library, where she was often found to be reading books or doing research on spirits. Draco Malfoy lay relaxing on a couch in the living room reading the latest edition of the Daily Prophet, when he saw Hermione sweep by gracefully into the Library. She had moved into his extravagant mansion, along with Ron Weasley, who had insisted that he come along "for her own safety", or so he said.

"Hermione?" He called after her, and waited until she turned around. Her brown eyes were filled with tears as she walked back, retracing her path. "You know Harry isn't gone. He wouldn't leave you alone. Believe me I would know." She sat down limply, next to him and sighed.

"But then where is he? I've cried out in my sleep so many times now, wondering where he was.. whether he was okay, or if he was hurt." She wiped her tears away with her robe's sleeve. She felt his hand reach out to rest on her shoulder. She turned her head to face him, and shook her head. "I don't know if I want to search for him anymore."

"You have to keep looking for him. It's just the right thing to do. After all those years at Hogwarts.." Hermione blinked, Draco had never mentioned Hogwarts before. To him, Hogwarts was just a phase... Something he was eager to get on with, and forget. "After all those years at Hogwarts, and keeping up with the ever-changing Hermione Granger, I think he deserves a little time. Remember all those times, Herm?" She rested her head on his shoulder.

"I do. I want to thank you for all those times that you've been there for me, when I thought I'd give up. Sometimes I think I would never have made it through life without you." He stroked her hair gently. She let her tears go, as they rolled down her cheeks dripping down to fall in a splatter on her lap. A cold gust of wind blew, and the candle went out. A tingle went up her spine, and Hermione abruptly sat up.

"What's wrong, Herm?" Draco gazed across the room in wonder. "It's just the wind."

"It's not just the wind, Draco... It's Harry."
