| In June 1878 the LochArd, an Iron Clipper, sank here in a violent storm, with 49 lives lost. One young man(20) and a young woman(18) saved themselves in a cave, into which the sea washed them. To get help, the man had to climb a sheer cliff and by great luck he met two men of one of the nearby farms, looking after their sheep. |
