Toyota Corolla FX GT

1993 AE101 20v 4A-GE

LINKS

This page is a work in progress as I gather information on each of theses motors.

Toyota ceased production of the silvertop motor in 1995. At this time a new version of the 20v 4A-GE was produced. The new motor has a black cam cover and was therefore named 'blacktop'. There are several differences between the two, but there is some argument over which engine is 'better'.

* There are 2 types of inlet manifold on the silvertop - one which resembles a teardrop shape fitted to facelift (93.5 on) AE101s, the other more like an oval with a cutout extending from the top of each port fitted to early (up to 93.5) AE101s. The teardrop shape far outflows the oval.
