Sailor Moon 2, Act 8: Sailor V

Sailors Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter and Luna are completely shocked, as is Queen Beryl, watching from her crystal ball. Jupiter says that she can’t believe it and asks Sailor V how she got here. Mars tells her she doesn’t look like the Sailor V they’re used to. The girl smiles and tells them she looks different without her mask—she puts on the red goggles to show them. Sailor Moon says, “The red goggles...It is V!” But the white cat says not to call her that; she isn’t just Sailor V, she’s the heiress to the Moon Kingdom and the Silver Imperium Crystal, Princess Serenity. “Sailor V’s the princess?!” Sailor Moon gasps. Then she realizes it must be true, with that mark on her forehead—it must be Princess Serenity’s symbol. Just then, the tiara on her forehead begins to grow warmer and it warps into an ornate moon shape, no longer a tiara. I feel like...I’m on the verge of remembering something so crucial...
“Princess Serenity...?” Tuxedo Mask repeats from the shadows. Princess Serenity whips around, asks “Who’s there?!” and throws her chain at him. They look at each other and gasp, then Tuxedo Mask runs away. As he runs, Tuxedo Mask thinks, Princess Serenity...that name...It sounds so familiar... He flashbacks to when Zoisite was about to kill Sailor Moon and thinks, Buns...I couldn’t protect her...
Sailor V tells Sailor Moon that she has done well. I can’t believe it’s V! Sailor Moon thinks. And she’s a princess! Sailor V continues to say that since she’s been helping her through the game, she feels like they’re close. The white cat explains that Sailor V trained her through the game. Sailor Moon gasps on learning that she trained her and that it was her talking through the video game. Sailor V turns to the other Soldiers and shakes their hands. As she touches Mars’ hand, Mars feels a shock, “like déjà vu...” Sailor V tells them she wants them to hurry up and remember their past lives. Just then Luna’s voice comes through the communicator, and V tells Luna they’ll be right there. She turns back into a normal girl in a junior high uniform. Winking, she tells them that she’s in the eighth grade and her name is Mina.
Inside the basement control room, Luna apologizes for not going to meet the Princess, but Mina says to forget about it, then says she’s missed this place. Amy speaks up. “Sailor V...I mean, Princess...We’ve been searching for the princess…you. If you’ve known, how come you’ve kept quiet?” Mina tells her she doesn’t know where to begin. She says that she met Artemis (the white cat) awhile ago, and before she knew about all of you, the two of them had been solving strange mysteries in town. She says that she wanted to meet all of them earlier, but she decided to wait and investigate the enemy while they matured. In her research, she discovered a strange link between certain crimes that weren’t caused by people, but by the evil Dark Kingdom. She says the Dark Kingdom is lead by an evil power born within darkness, so wicked that no living creature can compare with its viciousness. This great evil has been gaining strength and now it’s after the Silver Imperium Crystal, their Moon Kingdom’s royal jewel. The entire world is at risk because the dark power has been gaining power by sucking in people’s energy. Raye asks her if she’s seen it, and Mina replies that a long time ago, the Enemy ruined the Moon Kingdom and everyone’s happiness was destroyed. But even though they buried that Enemy, someone has reopened the seal—along with them, the Enemy was also revived. Mina says that in order to stop a repeat of the past’s tragedies, they have to close the seal again and destroy the Enemy forever. All the girls realize that this is why they were awakened, to prevent the past’s tragedies from repeating. Amy asks about the Crystal, and Mina says that she can’t say where it is, but the Enemy can’t get it yet, and they will be targeting them to get the Crystal. Bunny thinks to herself that the Princess is so strong and brave, like she’s protecting them. Lita says that the memories are almost coming back to her, but things are still fuzzy...she was more like one of them.
A voice calls out “Serenity” and Bunny whirls around to see a male figure being hurt. “Endymion!” she cries. Suddenly, Bunny wakes up with a jolt. Just a dream, she realizes. She yawns and goes to her window, thinking that it must have been because she met the princess. Bunny gets dressed, figuring that even though it’s so early, she might as well get up. She goes downstairs, to see her dad returning from his morning jog. He is shocked to see her and says that getting up so early isn’t like her. An image of Mina in her school uniform saying “It’s just for now” pops up in her mind, and she says that he’s right, it wasn’t really her up until now. Amused, he asks who the real her is, then. Indignant, Bunny tells him that she’s really the Champion of Justice, Sailor Moon. Her dad laughs; he doesn’t believe her. She says it’s true, she’s both Bunny and Sailor Moon. But her dad walks away.
Walking to school, Bunny wonders if the real her is Bunny or Sailor Moon. Suddenly, she sees Darien reading on a bench. Darien Shields...! she thinks, remembering the last time they met, when she found out he was Tuxedo Mask. He notices her, and she greets him, blushing. He says hello, and turns back to the book he is reading. Still blushing, she notices that all of his books are on crystals, and remembers when he said he was looking for the key to his past, the Silver Imperium Crystal. Remembering the Crystal, she wonders what it’s like and why everyone’s looking for it. Darien takes off his glasses (flashbacking for a second to when Zoisite was about to kill Sailor Moon) and says that he probably doesn’t deserve to be with her, but it seems like it’s fate. Flustered, she blushes and agrees with him while thinking, It’s fate... Then she pulls out the moon-faced pocket watch from her pocket and tells him that she meant to return it to him. But he tells her to hang onto it because he has something of hers to return too. The handkerchief she dropped at the masquerade... he thinks. I haven’t had a chance to return it to her... Bunny asks what he has to return to her, and he says that next time they can trade them. Bunny smiles and says sure.
Luna comes up behind Bunny and Darien, but they don’t even notice her so she walks away. I guess it’s hopeless, Luna thinks. Bunny’s totally fallen for that guy.But then she says that Darien Shields and Tuxedo Mask concern her, and she doesn’t know if he’s right for Bunny. Just then, Artemis comes up from behind and tells her not to worry. Luna’s duty is to find the Soldiers and train them. Then he tells her that in order to make it easier on her, part of her memory wasn’t revived. But now it’s time for her to know her true past, as a faithful attendant of Sailor Moon.
Inside the Dark Kingdom’s castle, Queen Beryl is once again before Queen Metallia, who is asking if it is true that the Moon Princess is there. Queen Beryl says yes, and Metallia tells her that she will try to destroy them and bring back the Moon Kingdom once again. But, she continues, she can’t feel the Princess’ spirit yet, and maybe that means they haven’t found the Silver Imperium Crystal. Then she tells Beryl that they must take care of them immediately and bring her the Crystal before it’s too late, and her power will rule the world again. Walking back, Beryl thinks about the Silver Millennium Princess being back and says that the war will begin again, but this time they will win it all.
Elsewhere in the castle, Kunzite is looking at the corpses of Jadeite, Nephrite, and Zoisite in their glass cases. He can’t believe that fate is theirs, and that out of the four, he’s the only one left. Queen Beryl appears behind him and tells him that if he gets the Crystal, he can bring them back. Kissing her hand, he tells her that he knows, but first he will take care of the Soldiers at once.
Kunzite is surveying the city from his floating sphere. He sees happy couples looking out into the city’s light and says that this is just an annoying waste of light; true beauty is found in the darkness.
All of the girls are talking. Bunny is saying to V, no, the Princess, that she can’t believe that she’s hanging out with them like a regular girl. “Same with you, Sailor Moon!” Mina replies. But Raye says that Bunny’s such an airhead and that her brains only show up when she transforms and she should save the Princess her goofy comments.
Kunzite, deciding to destroy the light, uses his power to snap all the power lines, plunging the city into darkness.
Elsewhere, Lita feels a jolt in her body. As the others ask if she’s all right, Amy notices that it’s a blackout and the cables have snapped. Looking outside, they see that there are victims.
In the control room, Luna tells Artemis that the whole city’s lost electricity. Back where the girls are, Lita is telling them that she just felt the cables transfer a mammoth amount of power, and Bunny realizes it’s the enemy. Mina tells them they have to transform and fight, and they do. Outside in the city, they see that the blackout’s gone really far and wonder if maybe everyone’s energy has been zapped. But there is a light shining at the top of Tokyo Tower, and Sailor V says they have to go over there, but Mercury wants her to stay in the control room with Luna. Since V is determined to go, Sailor Moon says they will protect her. Suddenly, Sailor Moon remembers about Tuxedo Mask and wonders where he could be and calls out in her mind, “Endymion!!”
In his apartment, Darien rises with a shock. Someone called him and now his head hurts. Looking outside, he sees a blackout everywhere except the top of the tower.
Outside the tower, the five Soldiers concentrate their powers and rise to the top of the tower, where Kunzite is waiting for them. Sailor Moon says her speech and then pulls out her Crescent Moon Wand and says “Moon Healing Escalation!” The lights in the city come back on, but Kunzite beams power at her and it knocks her off the tower and she falls off the edge...right into Tuxedo Mask’s arms. Hugging him, she can’t believe he’s there again. Then she tells him that it’s not safe there, they’re battling the Enemy and he should run away as far as he can. Then she gives him a kiss on the lips (completely surprising him) and runs off as he puts a stunned hand to his lips. You’re so strong today... he thinks, images of Bunny and Sailor Moon filling his mind. Every time you seem different. Are there other parts of you I don’t know? What is your real personality? Who are you really?
Sailor Moon returns to the rest of the Soldiers, who are attacking Kunzite but their attacks don’t work: he keeps sucking up their power. Laughing evilly, he says that he’ll use the power they gave him to blow up the entire city. Sailor Moon gasps and tells everyone to run away, he’s going to use the energy he gathered. Attempting to protect the Princess, she uses her wand to cast light onto the other four soldiers. Sailor V cries out and tells them they have to protect Sailor Moon. Kunzite reaches towards them and Sailor Moon gasps and just as Kunzite shoots a beam of power at her, Tuxedo Mask thinks that this time he’ll protect her, and jumps in front of her, taking the full blow of the attack, and then slumps to the ground.
