Sailor Moon 2, Act 9: Princess

Tuxedo Mask falls to the ground, Sailor Moon catching him.
Someone’s calling me... thinks Darien, seeing the unknown face of his dreams with long hair. With long hair...Is it you who calls me in my dreams...? The face gets clearer and he sees Sailor Moon telling him not to give up and open his eyes. Such a sad face...why are you crying? This has happened before... he realizes, and sees a girl with buns in her hair and a moon-shaped symbol on her face crying for “Endymion!” Endymion...That’s...my name...I remember...I was reborn as Darien Shields...Here...to find you... “Serenity...” he says aloud, reaching up to Sailor Moon but then he turns away, motionless. “Nooooo!” Sailor Moon cries, hugging him to her. Suddenly her ornate moon symbol breaks apart and a moon symbol begins to glow on her forehead. All the soldiers and Luna gasp as they realize that the mark on her forehead must mean she is Princess Serenity. Just then, the moon symbol on Sailor V’s forehead fades and is replaced with a tiara like the rest of the soldiers’. Sailor Moon’s outfit is changing...into the princess dress of Princess Serenity. The moon-faced watch comes into her hands and the broken glass pieces come together. Then the hands on the watch begin to spin backwards and everyone remembers the memories engraved in the sad past. All four soldiers remember that they are the four guardian soldiers who protect Princess Serenity. They were reborn on Earth to protect the Princess and revive the Moon Kingdom, and their true Princess is...They all look up at the sky and see Princess Serenity and Tuxedo Mask floating in a sphere of light. With tears in her eyes, Princess Serenity thinks that she remembers now her beloved, Endymion. The memories come flooding back to her as she remembers that deep blue planet of hope and possibilities, the same color as his eyes. I used to love watching it from the moon...The blue planet...The Earth Kingdom and its Crown Prince...The strongest and most handsome one...Endymion. Sailor Moon remembers that she sometimes would descend to Earth and watch him from a hiding place. But he noticed her and they would meet in secret. “We mustn’t keep meeting like this. Communication between the people of the Moon and the Earth is forbidden. We mustn’t fall in love...” But it was already too late... However, on the Moon, the people of Earth were rampaging it, crying out about conquering the Moon Kingdom and taking the Silver Imperium Crystal. From the mob, a woman who bore a strong resemblance to Queen Beryl asked the Prince if he betrayed them. He attempted to stop them and their useless fighting, but the woman got an evil gleam in her eye as an evil spirit appeared behind her and she stabbed Endymion and Serenity cried out for him.
Back in the present, Princess Serenity thinks that they finally found each other in their new life—this can’t be their fate. A single tear rolls down her cheek as she cries for her beloved, her one and only. But the tear glows with a light so brilliant everyone has to shield him or herself from it. The tear becomes a crystal shining so brightly that everyone realizes that this strange and powerful white light must be the Silver Imperium Crystal. All over the world, the light heals a little boy’s cough and brings a flower back to life. Technicians cannot figure out what the tremble in the Earth is.
The light is so powerful that Kunzite’s barrier isn’t holding. Back at the Dark Kingdom’s castle, Queen Metallia is sensing the powerful light from the surface. She feels her strength growing and wonders if this power is the Silver Imperium Crystal. The light even reaches the room where Jadeite, Nephrite and Zoisite’s corpses lay and it revives them. Kunzite gasps as he feels them coming back to life. They feel the energy flowing in their veins as a memory comes back to them...We were reborn on the Earth to search for our master...where is he? The memory is of the four generals talking to Prince Endymion. They are telling him that they are tired of submitting to the Moon Kingdom’s rule and their spying. Endymion asks them angrily where they heard such nonsense. “Who told you this? That evil being?! Don’t you understand? That evil power is using us!” Back in the present, Kunzite realizes that the memory must have been from their past life. He remembers that they were reborn to search for their master, Prince Endymion. But before they recovered their memories, they fell once more into the evil one’s clutches. Just then, Jadeite, Nephrite, and Zoisite change back into stones—they didn’t make it.
Back at the battle scene, the Silver Imperium Crystal is spinning. Then it glows brightly and a bit of light comes out of it and falls into Tuxedo Mask’s body before the brilliant light from the Crystal goes out.
Not wasting a second, Queen Beryl tells Kunzite to capture the Princess and the Crystal. From their light sphere, Kunzite uses his power to draw Tuxedo Mask towards him instead. Princess Serenity calls out to Tuxedo Mask, but it’s too late, Kunzite and Tuxedo Mask fade away, with Serenity crying out for him. Inside the Crown control room, Bunny in her princess dress is sobbing. Sailor V comes up to her and asks if she remembers about her, Sailor Venus. She tells Bunny that she is the leader of the four soldiers that protected the princess during their kingdom, the Silver Millennium. Serenity says she remembers...about the happiness before they were reborn, when Earth was still one country and the Moon had its kingdom. But in the end, the Earth and the Moon warred, and that happy time crumbled to ashes. “Then,” she says, “just like now, I couldn’t save him...” Luna says that she can’t believe Tuxedo Mask is Endymion. Sailor Mars says it has to be that evil being that crept into Earth and brainwashed. Mercury says that the evil one was a mass of darkness from space, but Venus protests that they sealed it away in their past lives. Someone must have freed it, she thinks. Someone working for it now! A picture of Queen Beryl flashes into her mind. That witch! Could she have broken the seal? Does she control the Dark Kingdom? Jupiter says that part of the Crystal went into Tuxedo Mask’s body and they have to do something, or else they’ll use it. Bunny looks at the Crystal and thinks that she can’t believe her crystallized tear is the Silver Imperium Crystal. Its light flashed so brightly...but now it’s just a piece of glass. It’s still just a bit warm...Like his hands... she thinks, and lays down on the ground.
In the Dark Kingdom’s castle, Tuxedo Mask is asleep, hooked up to wires and machines. Kunzite tells Queen Beryl that his heart rhythm is fine, and he’s weak but there is an unusual power sustaining him. Beryl can’t figure out why they can’t find the Silver Imperium Crystal anywhere, even though they saw a fragment of it enter him.
Darien rises, a possessed look in his eyes. Queen Beryl says that if he doesn’t have the Crystal, she doesn’t need him. Suddenly all the flesh melts off his face, leaving a skull. “Nooo!” Bunny cries, awaking with a start. That dream...! she thinks, tears running down her face. How many times...have I woke up crying...Tuxedo Mask! She gets up and looks at herself in the mirror. Her eyes and red and puffy like mushrooms from crying.
In the Crown control room, Luna is sitting and thinking. I’ve been here so long...I am Luna, Princess Serenity’s advisor...I have sworn never to leave the Princess’s side. But now Bunny’s so far away from me...Now I remember...When the Moon Kingdom was destroyed, Artemis and I went into a long sleep...When I finally awoke, I landed on Earth in the present time. My mission was to awaken Bunny...to educate her and be at her side at all times. My memories were sealed away, Sailor Venus acted as a decoy princess, and I trained Bunny to be a Sailor Soldier...All in order to protect the Princess, and the Silver Imperium Crystal hidden within her. I planned to hide her from the Enemy for a while longer...I didn’t expect Bunny to remember so quickly. I should have had more faith in her...If I had recovered my memories earlier, and realized that Tuxedo Mask was Endymion...Bunny wouldn’t have had to suffer...I’m the cause of her pain... “I’m a failure as Bunny’s partner,” she says aloud. Artemis appears and tells her than if she’s her partner, she should be with her. He licks her reassuringly and she apologizes, saying this isn’t like her. He asks if she’s been here all along, and she says she was looking for the Dark Kingdom’s hideout but she couldn’t find anything.
At Bunny’s house, Bunny’s mom opens the door to see Amy, Raye, Lita and Mina, all looking worried. They ask how Bunny is, since she’s getting behind at school. With a worried look on her face, Bunny’s mom says that they’re right, she should make her go to school but she hasn’t left her room and hardly eats anything—whatever happened must have been pretty bad. Suddenly Luna slips by them into the house. Outside Bunny’s door, the girls knock and then come in to find Bunny without her hair in buns and much longer than usual. As her friends cut and restyle her hair, Bunny explains that it just kept growing. Mina says that it was really long when she was the Princess, and her body probably started changing when she recovered her memories. Changing...? Bunny thinks. I’m becoming the Princess...It’s like I’m turning into someone else...
Luna asks her about the Silver Imperium Crystal, and she holds up the now-dormant Crystal and says it hasn’t changed and is this really the Silver Imperium Crystal. It’s hard to believe this is the same thing that shone so brightly... Lita says that something came out of the Crystal and into Tuxedo Mask, and maybe that’s part of the answer. At his name, Bunny’s mind is flooded with memories of him. She says that they have to defeat the Dark Kingdom and save him. “If we don’t, his body will melt and...No! Endymion!” Mina grabs her and shakes her by the shoulders. She tells her to snap out of it, they’re with her and they will help her save him.
Bunny stops. I am...the last heir to the throne of the Silver Millennium, Princess Serenity. I must be strong...I have to save him...I know he’s still alive. Luna says that they have to find the Dark Kingdom and the secret of the Crystal—and in order to do that, they must go to the moon. Bunny gasps. To find the truth we’re looking for...To the moon!
