Sailor Moon 2, Act 7: Darien Shields

Bunny wonders what Darien Shields is doing here. Aloud, she asks where they are. Darien replies that they are at his place. Bunny wonders how she got here. “Don’t you remember?” he asks. But Bunny is looking at something across the room: A cape, top hat, and mask. He tells her she fell asleep and totally wiped out. But Bunny realizes that those are Tuxedo Mask’s cape, top hat, and mask! I remember now... she thinks. That deep voice...that tuxedo, that bow tie. She gets up and starts to walk across the room. She picks up the mask, wondering how she never noticed before with those deep blue eyes, and puts the mask over Darien’s eyes and realizes that he is Tuxedo Mask. She asks him if it’s true that he is Tuxedo Mask. He says yes, he had to find to Crystal to regain his memory. “Your memory?” Bunny asks. Darien begins to explain...a flashback is shown of a young Darien, crying “Mommy, Daddy, hurry up! Let’s go driving!” Darien’s parents smile happily...but the next scene shows the car driving off a cliff. The next thing young Darien knows a doctor is telling him that it’s a miracle he survived—but his parents didn’t make it. Young Darien puts a hand to his bandaged head...he doesn’t remember who he is or why he’s there—he can’t remember anything.
Bunny gasps. Darien says that on his sixth birthday he lost both his parents and his memory. “You’re Darien Shields,” they told him at the hospital. But he wonders if that is his real name. Then he started having strange dreams of a faceless woman calling out to him “Find the Silver Imperium Crystal”—always those same words, always the same dream. He says that when he woke up he would wander the city in a tuxedo, like some phantom thief, with only one clue to his past: the Crystal. Then he asks her why she is looking for the Crystal. Flustered, she replies that she doesn’t really know but Luna told her to find it. As he looks at her, she blushes and her heart beats faster. So that’s why he wanted the Crystal... Suddenly, she hears Luna’s voice saying, “I didn’t want to think Tuxedo Mask was the enemy. But you have to protect the Crystal! Don’t let the enemy get it!” She realizes that Luna is warning her subconsciously, but it’s already too late—he shares their secret. She wonders if she can trust him...but she wishes they could stay like that forever, just looking at each other. She looks down and says that Luna’s waiting for her, so she has to go. As she turns to leave, he leans down and whispers, “Hey Buns (Usa-ko), don’t forget your bag.” She blushes and thinks, He called me Buns! She wonders what Darien’s nickname is. Then she remembers she still has his watch, and pulls it out of her pocket and looks at it. Back at his apartment, Darien has the handkerchief that fell out of Bunny’s dress at masquerade. Simultaneously, they kiss the objects.
At the Crown Arcade computer room, Luna is talking to someone through the computer. The voice is saying that the soldiers have awakened but they can’t remember anything. Luna says especially Bunny, and they will have to wait. The voice tells Luna that there’s no time, the enemy’s getting stronger and people are in danger. Luna doesn’t know what to say.
Inside the Dark Kingdom’s castle, Zoisite is watching replays of Sailor Moon in the last fight. He says it’s amazing, Sailor Moon’s power—she took all the energy they stole and gave it back, just like that. Kunzite wonders aloud if maybe she already has the Crystal. Suddenly an angry voice behind them asks if the Soldiers have their Crystal. Zoisite whirls around to see Queen Beryl, looking quite angry. She leaves, and descends down a flight of stairs to a great set of double doors. The doors open and Queen Beryl steps inside. She kneels and speaks. “Our Master, Queen Metallia—awake! We offer you this precious energy.” Then she holds out her hands and energy flows from them towards “Queen Metallia,” who appears to be a great dark cloud floating on a pedestal. Queen Metallia tells Queen Beryl that she needs more energy, and she must have the Silver Imperium Crystal. Beryl bows and tells her that they are looking, and they’ve narrowed it down to their city. Metallia says that even deep underground she can feel its power. Beryl cries that they’re never going to find it with the obnoxious Sailor Soldiers around, who may already have it. Metallia is shocked to learn about the Sailor Soldiers, and she says that it is their fault she was buried so long ago. She tells Queen Beryl not to let them stop her, and not to let the heir to the Moon Kingdom awaken. She continues to say that once she has the Crystal, it will revive her and make the Earth hers this time. Then she disappears, leaving Beryl there. Once again, Queen Metallia just vanishes before my very eyes, she thinks. She’s powerless now...but if I revive her, she’ll destroy the entire planet. Now there’s no going back...Ever since that day... Queen Beryl remembers the day she was at the North Pole looking through some haunted ruins (obviously still a normal human), when she stumbled upon the Dark Kingdom and set the evil free with her very own hands. It was fate. Back at her crystal ball, she says that if only she had the Crystal, the planet would be hers and she would rule it. Then she tells Zoisite that she thinks Sailor Moon knows who has the Crystal, or maybe she’s hiding it herself.
Molly walks into a store and sees her two other friends, Yumi and Kari. They are at a video store, and Yumi and Kari are renting videos. Molly says she’s there because Bunny’s been so busy lately on weekends. The girls talk about how this new chain of video stores has popped up all over lately.
As Raye is walking around town, she hears people talking about the new video store (which is called “Dark Moon”), the Silver Imperium Crystal and Sailor Moon and begins to sense evil there.
As Bunny and Lita join Amy at lunch, Amy is typing on her computer. She says she’s found data on Sailor V. A picture of Sailor V shows up, with the words “Sailor V. Age, Address, True Identity: Unknown. Appeared in 199X, “Champion of Justice.” Suddenly disappeared when Sailor Moon showed up. No one has ever seen her in person.” Bunny points to the moon-shaped mark on Sailor V’s forehead and says that maybe it’s related to the Moon Kingdom. Lita says Luna didn’t think much of her, and Amy says that maybe Bunny has the power to sense things. She goes on, saying that they aren’t fully awakened, but Bunny’s probably awakening faster than them—after all, she healed everyone with that wand and she is their leader, so she must have some special powers. Bunny is completely shocked as she thinks, Me...Special powers? I mean, I healed everyone, but that was only because of Luna’s wand. Plus, Tuxedo Mask was there. She gets a dreamy look on her face. He helped me use my powers. She looks at Amy and Lita and thinks that maybe she should tell them that Tuxedo Mask is really Darien Shields and that he knows she’s Sailor Moon. But then she thinks that if she tells them, they’ll be shocked and Luna will get mad and won’t let her see him again. I don’t know why, but when I think of him...it’s like my heart aches. She reasons that she has to hide the way she feels for a little longer. Suddenly, Melvin pops up from behind the bushes and sees the Sailor V data on their computer screen. He tells them they should forget about Sailor V and look up Sailor Moon. Then he says that he’s going to be the first person to meet Sailor Moon. The girls all sweatdrop and are thoroughly freaked out, and he leaves. Just then Luna comes up to them and says that he’s obnoxious. Lita asks Luna where she’s been, and Luna says she’s been in the basement control room. Then she asks Bunny why she isn’t eating with Molly. “Molly…I forgot about her…” Bunny says and looks over at Molly, who is sitting at her desk with a blank look on her face. Luna says everyone in her class has been acting strangely lately. Just then, Luna notices that all the students have Dark Moon videotapes inside their bags. She snatches one of the videotapes away from them.
Amy, Bunny, and Luna arrive at the arcade, which is pretty empty except for Andy. He says that maybe everyone’s watching vides instead. They head over to the Sailor V game. Luna says she programmed the game to play videotapes, and they put the video into the game. Immediately the screen lights up with a blinding flash and the tape pops out of the player by itself. Luna says this isn’t just a video, maybe it’s the Enemy and Bunny tells her to forget about that and look at the game: At first they think it’s broken because the screen has static, but then a picture of Sailor V comes up on the screen. She asks Sailor Moon what she’s waiting for, then tells her that’s the Enemy’s brainwash video and she must save everyone. Bunny gasps—Sailor V from the game talked. Amy transforms into Sailor Mercury and tells Bunny she’s going downstairs. In the basement control room, Amy looks at the video game’s screen, which is playing a subliminal message. It is Zoisite, telling anyone who watches it to find Sailor Moon, she has the key to the Silver Imperium Crystal and they must hunt her down and bring her to the Dark Kingdom. Then Sailor Mercury feels the video sucking her energy, and asks Luna what does it mean, why do they keep attacking, and what is their goal.
Outside in the city, the brainwashed people are moving in one great mass, all chanting “Find Sailor Moon...” Just then, Sailor Moon herself appears and says “Moon Healing Escalation!” and heals the people with her wand. Suddenly Zoisite materializes and Sailor Moon uses her “Moon Twilight Flash” attack on him, but he disappears and reappears behind her, wrapping his arms around her neck and asking her where the Crystal is. Suddenly Sailor Mars shows up and uses her “Aku Ryo Tai San” attack. Sailor Jupiter uses her “Jupiter Thunder” attack as well, but Zoisite redirects their energy back at themselves and they faint. Feeling herself weaken, Sailor Moon clutches the moon-face watch and wishes Tuxedo Mask was there to help. But he is facing the other side of a barrier surrounding them and he can’t get through. Zoisite is about to kill Sailor Moon with a sharp rock when it is taken away from him by an unknown white cat. A voice tells Sailor Moon to get down just as a crescent moon-shaped disk comes whizzing towards them and rips Zoisite apart and he is destroyed. Sailor Moon gasps as she turns to see a girl wearing a sailor uniform, a white cat with a crescent moon bald spot next to her. The girl bears a striking resemblance to Sailor V. No way... Sailor Moon thinks. That silhouette...It couldn’t be...But I just know it, I felt it inside me like a shockwave...The Phantom Champion of Justice, Sailor V?!
