My name is Frances Cashman, I'm 40 years old and I suffer from cerebral palsy. I live with my parents in Cork-city. I've been writing for 23 years now. I've had children's and adults' stories, and articles too, featured in a number of publications here in Ireland, most notably Ireland's Own. I've had my work published further afield too in magazines such as Canada's Celtic Heritage and Fate, a US publication. I've also had articles in the quarterly magazine, Inside Ireland, which is sold by mail order, mainly catering for the Irish abroad. I review books for Insight magazine. If you'd like to see those that have already appeared, click here. I hope to add more as the months go by.

My first collection of children's stories, Tir na nOg (now out of print) was used to teach English to second- and third-level students in Japan. It was on the syllabus at Bunkyo Junior Women's College in Tokyo.

Because of my disability, I am physically unable to write. I learned to type at the Lavanagh Centre, Ballintemple, Cork, which is part of Enable Ireland, or as it was them known, the Cork Spastic Clinic. I have a PC for the past 7 years. It has made a huge difference to me - not least in that I can so easily correct my work.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the occasional film or play. I love country music.

My ambitions are to have my children's stories published more widely and to have a novel published.

If any of you share my interest in quotations and you'd like to see my collection of my favourite ones, click here I'm warning you though, there's a lot of them
