Outside, the snowman and snow woman introduced themselves as Mr and Mrs Winters. Bobby and Sandra were too excited to have much to say for themselves. They just knew that something truly wonderful was happening to them. Their new friends led them to a nearby meadow where they had often been before. But they’d never seen it look as it looked that night.

It was filled with snowmen, snow women and snow children of all shapes and sizes. They were singing, dancing, eating, drinking, talking and generally having a marvellous time. Sandra and Bobby’s mouths fell open and their eyes grew wide in wonder at the sight before them. Gradually, they became aware of music playing in the distance, soft but magical, the most beautiful music they’d ever heard. The strangest thing was that they hadn’t the slightest idea of where it might be coming from. Bobby was about to ask, but Mrs Winters saved him the trouble.

Lucy’s contentment didn’t last long though. Just like every other year, she soon grew bored and restless. She longed for something more interesting to do than just sit there on top of the tree looking pretty and pray that the Normans would have a happy Christmas. It wasn’t that she didn’t like them; they were a very nice family; it was just that she didn’t really want to be a Christmas angel. It was dull and meant having to sleep most of the time. She longed to do something exciting, have an adventure maybe. That was what she really wanted, but what was the use of her thinking about adventures? It was no fun being a Christmas angel. She would much rather have been born a pixie. The pixies went all over the place doing their good deeds. They had fun and lots of adventures too.

Lucy kept thinking about pixies for the rest of the day, and comparing their lives with hers. Then, she had an interesting idea. The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. This year, unlike any other year, she would actually do something about her unhappiness. That night, when the Norman family was asleep in their beds, she would fly away to Pixieland. She was sure that she would be let become a pixie.
