I did the good thing and went to Church. My sponsee, however, didn't show.
Neither did the person I was going to give some wedding pictures to (her daughter
caught the bouquet.) Of course. When I forget the pix, she's there. When I remember
them, no way.
The talk for the maybe-Catholics was about sacraments and matrimony. St. Philomene's has
the best aisle in Sacramento. This came up in a discussion of getting married "at" the
church as opposed to "in" the church. We talked about marriage tribunals and how
comparatively easy annulments are to get. The team leaders talked about how
we support each other in our marriages and one of the inquirers picked that up:
"What do you mean by support?" Apparently he was thinking people would come to the house
and yell at him if his marriage was in trouble. Nothing so sinister, it's just that
we have a lot of long marriages and people really want you to succeed, too. I brought up
Bernadette's letter.
So we came home, and Rich couldn't get the football game on with the new remote, but he did manage to FF disk one. I took over and ejected disk two, the one that was recording. Argh. I got it going again, and mentioned that I had set up to tape the soap on d1 and everything else on d2. Well, you'd have thought I'd planned the end of the world. "WHY??" And all sorts of grumbles about how if he wanted to view something and messed it up, it wasn't my fault.
He's sick. He's not feeling well. So this both explains his unreasonable reaction and makes it impossible for me to yell at him, so I went away and wept in fury for awhile. It's supposed to be MY VCR, but I am not allowed to set it up the way I want? He's definitely getting dance lessons for his birthday! (To be fair, he did come over to me later and apologize.)
I'm down another pound, getting my Body Mass Index to 24, which is normal.
Rich has gone from 27 to 22 in a couple of months. Now, 22 would be great, if
he felt good at all. His cheeks are sunken, and he looks really ill.
I walked only a little, got rid of no magazines at all, and I'm certainly not getting far
with the "handle each piece of paper once" idea. I spent at least 20 minutes looking for the
directions to that water-saving garden. I did mail off things to the kids. Now there's a
new week to do better in!
As for baseball, while I don't like R. Alomar (see the spitting incident of '95) I kinda would like the Red Sox to overcome the curse of the bambino. On the other hand, a Subway Series would be nice. Mostly, though, the Mets have got to beat the Braves!!
