Basically, the Administrators here are the gods. They dictate what happens at all times, and are kind enough to let you share this incredibly fun game. Please be respectful to them and other players at all times. Don't worry, they are extremely benevolent deities.
- Posts must be a minimum of one paragraph
We all hate word limits, but one liners do nothing to move a plot ahead. A paragraph is easy and helps to keep post quality on track.
- You are not allowed to use "role play speech"
This means no The femora two-beated gracefully across the terra, flints beating the earth, silken banner flowing in the breeze. No stag or fae or any of that. Stag is a male deer not a stallion. If you want to use synonyms for words such as land, mane, hooves, eyes, or anything in your post, use a thesaurus. A real one, not a Role playing one. The fancy speech is pointless and difficult to read and in no way makes a good post.
- You must have permission to use pictures for your character
To use a picture for your character, it must either be a photograph you have taken or gotten permission to use, or a drawing you have done yourself or received permission to use. You may only use photo manipulations if you have gotten permission to use every photograph or resource used, or have taken them yourself. We want to abide by copyright rules here, people.
- Do not fight with other players
Just don't do it, especially on our boards. If you feel the need to fight with them, take it up through email or something. If you have problems that you would like to bring up, please email one of the administrators to address the issue. Remember, nothing in game relates to what a player thinks of you out of character.
- Html is not allowed in subjects or names
We want our boards to look pretty and uniform so that everyone can read through them easily. You are allowed to use Html inside posts, but it must be readable.
- Chat language is not allowed
So, no gtg, brb, lol, gr8 or any other abbreviations you might use when talking on your standard messenger. They get annoying. Really, Really fast. Fully formed sentences are not hard.
- Use correct spelling
No, we aren’t going to pounce on you for a few slip ups – everyone makes those mistakes. But please double check your post for spelling errors, run it through word, or even put it into http://www.spellcheck.net/. This takes about five seconds and will make your must much more enjoyable to read.
- Keep advertising on the spam board
Do not advertise anywhere else, under penalty of death!
- Use your In Character name on the In Character boards
You know that little box that says 'name' when you post? Only put your OOC name in that box when on Out Of Character boards, such as the OOC Board (-gasp!-) or the Blab board. Otherwise, it just gets confusing.
- No character advertising
Please do not blatantly make posts which have the sole purpose of promoting your character. It's fine to talk about plots, ask about possible interaction, and other such things, but it's obnoxious to just make posts saying 'My mare is lone in the Meadow go get her!'. Also, especially don't do this on In Character boards. Do your best to keep out of character notes and comments posted on out of character boards. That is what they are there for.
- Absolutely no powerplaying or godmoding.
Powerplaying is where you control another horse's actions, and usually happens in a fight. For example, you might post:
Blue lunged at the other horse, teeth ripping a deadly wound in his stomach
That is a No-no since you posted what happened to the other horse. Instead, try posting what your character hopes to do, which gives the other person a chance to doge or accept the blow. For example:
Blue lunged at the other horse, attempting to inflict a deadly wound in his stomach
Godmoding (also known as Godmodeling) means that your horse is amazing, or godlike. So, they doge every blow, are able to do many attacks at once, have an unlimited amount of energy, have no weakness, read minds, ect. This gives your horse an unfair advantage in fights, and makes posts unrealistic. If another horse doesn't say something in front of your character, or doesn't do something when your character is present, your character can not know unless they were told by another character. Godmoding also includes using OOC knowledge to dictate your character's actions. All of this is not allowed. Your character only knows what has happened in posts, or what has happened to them before they came here.
"'The ungodmodeling God horse" ... In an attempt to become "famous" people will try to -make- their horses sound as perfect as possible without actually stepping over the GodMod line. Dont do it. It's not flattering, its not good roleplaying, and people will NOT think highly of you or your character.
- No magic!
This is a realistic wild horse rpg, meaning there must be realistic characters and situations. Your horse can not shoot a lightning bolt at another character, nor can you join a unicorn. If you want to do that kind of stuff, find a fantasy rpg.
- Be original
Stealing names or making a character very very similar, if not identical, to someone else's is sort of flattering, but infuriating. Please try to come up with your own original characters and ideas.
- Keep quality and activity at an acceptable level.
You can join as many characters as you would like, but you must maintain your activity and the quality of your posts.
- Mild cursing permitted
Please, no excessive profanity. Sometimes you feel you absolutely need to say damn it or whatnot to express your character's frustration, but please keep it to a minimum to respect our younger players.
- There are no 'claimed' territories
No herd or horse can officially own an area. They may take up residence in one spot and attempt to drive intruders out, but technically anybody is allowed to go anywhere.
- Mares have free will *Gasp*
A stallion can request that a mare join his herd, bully her into his herd, and really use any means he wants to convince her to go with him. A mare has the ability to refuse, though, and leave a herd or stallion whenever she pleases.
- Characters are not required to be in herds
Loners and such are allowed but it is beneficial for a character's safety if they are among other horses.
- Stealing is allowed
Yes, yes, big Mr. Macho stallion can go take lovely princess from the weak little colt. Have fun. Just remember that weak little colt can defend himself and his mare, as well as try to steal her back.
- You may only have two characters in a herd
Unless the herd is very large and has a ton of other members, you can only have two characters in a single herd. This way you don't have herds where all of the members are played by the same person.
- All fights are played out in game
The players decide who wins a fight through their character's actions. Your characters must take damage during a fight as well. If you cannot decide the outcome of a fight, ask an administrator or an uninvolved player to roll some dice to see who wins
- If your character is attacked by a predator, they MUST take damage
If a predator posts an attack on your character, your character may fight it but must take whatever damage is posted. Only administrators and specially chosen players will be able to play predators, so it will usually be very fair. For example, if a wolf attacks your character saying that it ripped a large gash in the horse's side, the horse must take the damage.
- One month real life is a season in game
This means four months real life is a year in game, and a real year is three in game years.
Breeding
- Mares may only breed once a year
If it was any more often, there would be tons of unwanted characters floating around. Anyways, we're trying to keep this at least partially realistic.
- Breeding occurs from Spring through early Fall
Again, this is a realistic rpg. Mares can only be bred when they are in heat, and mares do not go into heat in the colder months.
- No Long Breeding
Long or detailed breeding is not allowed. It does nothing to improve the quality of the game and only makes some people uncomfortable. Mounting is a good place to stop.
- No Force Breeding
A stallion can attempt to mount a mare without permission, but ultimately the mare can decide whether she wants him up there. If the mare is weak or considerably smaller than the stallion, he has a better chance of achieving his goal, but no matter how large he is a mare can still kick and nip up a storm to cause some damage.
- A mare may be bred by two different stallions
Yep, this actually does happen in the wild. Within two days of the original breeding, the mare may be bred again, and dice will be rolled to determine who the father is.
- Foals are of weaning age after two seasons
After two seasons in game (two months real life) foals can leave their mothers and survive. Most foals, though, do not leave the herd at this age. Both colts and fillies will usually be chased out after they turn two, to prevent inbreeding and to prevent power struggles.
- Incest may occur
All relatives may breed with one another, though a parent and their child breeding is incredibly rare. Brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, are all acceptable, though. We may find it strange, but this happens in the wild all the time
Our pet peeve
- Horses are NOT sexy.
Do not describe your horses, in character, as sexy. It's okay as a joke or something out of character, but is immeasurably annoying when used in posts.
