Wireless Networking
One of the most obvious yet major aspects of wireless access is as stated earlier the fact that users are no longer bound by where a connection is in the wall. This opens up doorways to numerous intangible situations and ideals. As stated before our lab was reduced in size simply because oh how and where the wires would have gone if we added additional computers. Wireless is such an amazing feat that users no longer have to be in the building in order to get access. This proves valuable as in a school environment you may have a annex or portable unit that wouldn’t be directly connected to the local network. With the wireless feature you can now have access just about anywhere.
Another major attribute of the wireless environment is the standards that are currently in place for our wireless networks. Which right now 802.11 being the standard of wireless components. Major manufactures are using this standard and making it easier for users whom want to upgrade to a wireless solution. Manufactures such as Linksys and D-Link even offer these standards through the use of USB ports. With the new USB standard being 2.0 USB ports used to access the internet offers amazing speeds with out the users having to even open their machines.
Finally the last important piece of Wireless networks is security. It’s one thing to have access to wirelessly but most people don’t want just any one to be able to connect to their wireless internet. Anonymous connections could jeopardize the integrity of the network that the wireless has been added to. So security of wireless networks using encryption keys has become essential in wireless environments.
