Sailor Arcturus

Name: Yuraino Rusui

English Translation: Keeper of History

Gender: Female

Height: 5 feet even

Eyes: Brown in color; a lighter shade of brown, close to the color of coffee with lots of cream in it. The shape of her eyes is slightly narrower than that of Sailor Moon, but not as narrow as, say, Haruka or Michiru.

Hair: Green. Rusui's hair is an olive sort of green, on the lighter side, and is gathered at the base of her neck with a brown chord. It then goes into a short braid that hangs between her shoulderblades, and is tied with another piece of brown chord. When worn down (which isn't often), it reaches just below her shoulderblades. Her bangs are swept off to the sides of her forehead and are very whispy. They become longer as they go past her ears and merge with the rest of her hair. Rusui also has two pieces of hair that fall in front of her ears, and they are fastened in place with two round purple gem clips.

Birthday: February 24 (Pisces)

Age: 15 at the beginning of the series, that is, a year older than the inner Senshi.

Blood Type: A

Build: Thin but not ethereal, somewhat fragile-looking, and physically weak.

Unique Physical Characteristics:

Rusui is fairly short for her age, and has a small bone structure. She isn't very strong, either. In her civilian form, she wears a pair of small, round glasses. Rusui has small hands with long fingers, as she is a writer and a pianist.

Senshi Name: Sailor Arcturus - Senshi of the Ages

Senshi Colors: Blue-gray, dark green, and purple

Sailor Fuku Details:

Sailor Arcturus' fuku is designed like the other Senshi, with a white bodice and white gloves. Her skirt and collar are a bluish gray, with one purple stripe at the base of each. The bow on her chest is dark green, as is the bow at the small of her back. Arcturus' gloves come halfway up the upper part of her arm, and the glove bands are the same gray-blue as her skirt. Below the bands and at her wrists are purple stripes. Her boots come a little less than halfway up her lower leg, and the rims dip down, much like the base of her bodice. These rims are dark green like her bows, and her boots are her primary blue-gray with purple stripes around the ankles and just under the rims. Her choker is purple like the stripes on her fuku, and the purple jewels that clip her hair above her ears grow slightly larger during the transformation and become rimmed with a band of gold. The brooch on her chest is a horizontally oval gem, also purple. Arcturus' tiara is gold like the other Senshi, with a purple jewel.

Symbol: Arcturus's symbol is a simplified quill pen, which can be seen at the top of this page.

Realm: Her original realm is wisdom, with powers coming from rain.

Transformation Item: Sailor Arcturus uses her oval brooch as a henshin item. The jewel is a purple, convex gem that sits in a thin setting of gold. The purple of the gem is a deep color, and there is blue and greyish visible within it.

Transformation Phrase: Arcturus Star Power, Make-Up!

Animal Guide: Rusui does not have an animal guide. In fact, she's rather afraid of animals... The only animals she doesn't shy away from are birds, and she supposes she could tolerate having one as a guardian beast if she was forced to, but otherwise, she doesn't want one.

Weapons:
Iron Ages Staff - Sailor Arcturus' staff, called the Iron Ages Staff, is a very thin bar of wrought iron (perhaps a half an inch by a half an inch), which has sections that are twisted around like a screw a few inches from the base and a few inches from the top. At the top of the staff is a circle, maybe five inches in diameter, with a twist in the metal on either side. It is about four and a half feet tall.

Attacks:
Arcturus Quill Spear: Sailor Arcturus flings her hand into the air, palm up and open, and cries "Arcturus!" Then swirls of glowing white mist gather around her, circling her body and collecting above her palm. She says, "Quill!" and the white strands form a spear-like object, perhaps a foot and a half long, resembling a quill pen. It is pointed at one end, and has feathers about three-fourths of the way up the stalk to the other end. "Spear!" The quill glows bright white, then she flings it at an enemy.; It either impales the enemy and blasts them with white light (which resembles lightning only much less jagged) or strikes the ground near them and throws them a few yards away. This can either happen to enemies or allies, the attack itself cannot differentiate.

Arcturus Rain Quill Launching: "Arcturus!" Sailor Arcturus raises her Iron Ages Staff above her head and twirls it like a baton a few times, then swings it down and draws it back with both hands. White whisps of light gather in the center of the circle at the top of the staff. "Rain Quill..." The light forms the shape of a quill pen like in her Quill Spear attack, and then a thin orb of water forms around the quill. "Launching!" She swings the staff around once and flings the orb at an enemy, using both hands to throw the quill and water much like a lacrosse player throws a ball.; The orb of water and the quill smashes into them, sending more powerful pulses of white energy through them. If it does not hit the target and instead crashes into the surrounding area, it creates a large and rather wet explosion. This attack also cannot differentiate between enemies and friends.

Arcturus Silver Cloudburst : "Arcturus!" Sailor Arcturus raises her Iron Ages Staff into the air and points it at the heavens. "Silver!" Tiny silver threads of water begin swirling about the trunk of her staff, then wind in and out of the circle at its top. "Cloudburst!" The silver threads gather and shoot skyward, piercing the sky overhead. Clouds gather above her and a deafening barrage of rain shoots down. Sailor Arcturus is able to direct the path of the rain with her staff.; Arcturus can direct this attack, so it's more likely to hit its target and not an ally. The heavy barrage of rain is needle-sharp and very cold, inflicting more pain than her other attacks on it's victim. This is arguably her strongest attack.

Origin: Tokyo

Favorite Food: Rice, noodles and other forms of pasta

Least Favorite Food: Pork

Favorite School Subject: History is her best subject, owing to the fact that she was there and has seen most of it, and she does enjoy it quite a bit. But her favorite class will always be writing.

Least Favorite School Subject: Any humanities or social studies class. She thinks she has watched humanity enough that she knows more about them than the teachers, and she really doesn't like people anyway. That, and any class where she has to work with other people or in groups. She also dislikes gym class for that reason and the fact that she isn't very physically strong.

Favorite Gemstone: Amethyst, her birthstone. But preferably a dark variety of amethyst.

Future Goals: Rusui wants to be a professional writer, and get some of her works published. Her goals as a Sailor Senshi are to finally find the rest of the Senshi and chronicle their adventures as is her destiny to do.

Strengths: Rusui is extremely intelligent. She reads almost obsessively, and writes all the time as well. She does very well in school and can figure out almost any problem using her mind.

Weaknesses: Rusui has... shall we say somewhat reclusive tendencies. Because she has witnessed most of history, she has a rather cynical outlook on the human race. She doesn't do well in groups, and people usually just stay away from her. She is also pretty weak physically, but not sickly.

Hobbies: As I said before, Rusui reads religiously and spends most of her other time writing. She doesn't really like to hang around with other people, so she has a lot of time to herself. She also enjoys her job as scribe of the Senshi and likes looking for evidence of the other Sailor Soldiers. Strangely, Rusui also likes to play the piano, and she has one in her apartment. But she refuses to play for anyone else except her grandparents, and that is rare.

Family:
Rusui lives alone in her own apartment. She never knew her father, and since her mother was only a teenager when she was born, she went to live with her grandparents for the majority of her childhood. She was a remarkably mature and prococious child, and since she really desired to be alone her grandparents rented her an apartment when she was about twelve or thirteen. They pay for her food and bills, and she visits them quite often. She loves them very much, but feels bad that she can't tell them about her Sailor identity, and so has recently grown a little distant. She claims that she needs her space to write, which is true. Despite this, she still finds time to visit her grandparents, usually every few days. She spends a lot of time with them, and they are very supportive and seem to understand and accept that she has things she cannot tell them. Rusui also has seen her mother a few times, but the meetings were always rather uncomfortable and they never had much to talk about.

How this she became a Sailor Senshi:
Sailor Arcturus was born on the moon during the Silver Millennium, and unlike most Senshi she was not the princess of her respective star or planet. She simply had blood from the star Arcturus in her lineage, and was named so because of her powers. The namesake of Arcturus is Arcas, who's mother was turned into a bear. He almost killed this bear with a spear, but the gods took pity on them and turned him into a bear as well. Sailor Arcturus' Quill Spear attack is where her name was derived from. During the Silver Millennium, Sailor Arcturus was the scribe of the Moon Kingdom. She wrote down everything that happened, every war, marriage, birth, or political event. She was the chronicler of all that occurred in Queen Serenity's kingdom. She was especially fascinated by the Sailor Senshi and Princess Serenity, and spent a great deal of her time writing about them. She investigated the backstory of every tale that came through the palace, and when the war with Metallia and the Dark Kingdom began, she was almost excited to have such an interesting thing to write about. When the Princess and Earth's Prince Endymion were killed and the Queen sent all of the Senshi to the Earth of the future, Sailor Arcturus was sent as well. Since no one could be sure exactly when the Princess and her guardians would return, Sailor Arcturus was reborn right after the collapse of the Moon Kingdom. She lived a full lifetime and died like a normal person without finding the Senshi, and as soon as she died she was reborn again. This repeated for the entire duration of history, Sailor Arcturus remembering her mission and her identity each time. Time proceeded, and eventually she was reborn one year before the birth of Tsukino Usagi, who would be destined to become Sailor Moon and remember her life as the Moon Princess. Now, Sailor Arcturus can finally fulfill her destiny of chronicling the Sailor Senshi as they are reborn and come into power again.

Other important details:
Rusui's fascination with Princess Serenity and the Sailor Senshi continues to this day, and although she has yet to meet them face to face (or find out who their civilian identities are) she is very interested in them. It's kind of strange, too, because they seem to be the only people that she finds worthy of her time, and even if she did meet them as their alter egos, she would probably write them off as just another bunch of silly schoolgirls.

Transformation Sequence:She wears her oval brooch on her school uniform always, and when the need arises, she places her hands on either side of it and a bit in front of her chest. The brooch comes off and hovers in the air between her hands. "Arcturus Star Power..." She then lifts the brooch above her head. "Make-Up!" The brooch flashed with white light, enveloping Rusui, and her clothes disappear as well as her glasses. Her body shimmers as the white light forms into millions of feathers, small pieces of parchment, and silver droplets of water which swirl around her. Rusui guides the glowing purple jewel with her hands and spins in circles, water droplets drawing around her body. There is a flash of white and another flurry of feathers, and her sailor fuku is in place. She crosses her arms in front of her, the gem hovering over her chest, and her gloves appear, then her boots. The purple gem reattaches itself to her chest, and flashes once more, and with a swirl of silver shoots of water, her Iron Ages Staff appears. She takes hold of the staff and finishes her transformation standing with one leg in back of the other, holding the staff tilted diagonally in both hands.

Personality: Rusui is a rather reclusive girl. Owing to the fact that she has seen all of history and wrote about most of it, she has a very cynical view of human beings. She doesn't like other people very much, and prefers to spend her time alone. However, she is very conflicted because, as a Sailor Senshi, she knows it is her job to protect the people of this planet. She gets a certain pleasure out of saving people and helping them when they are in trouble (usually only as Sailor Arcturus) but she continually reminds herself that she doesn't care about these people. Whether that is true or not, she herself doesn't even know. Her relationship with other students at her school is kind of a strange one, because of her "old soul", as it were. She constantly scares people away by telling them things like "humanity was always like this" and other disconcerting things. People usually just leave her alone, or only come to her to ask for help on projects and homework because she is, as they put it, "uncannily good at history." Rusui does not like and is not very good at sports, which adds to her reclusiveness. She is, however, very good at lacrosse, because of her Rain Quill Launching attack, and she has been known to play occasionally. Although she pretends to dislike the human beings of Earth, she truthfully enjoys being around them, if only to observe their quirks. She does take a certain pleasure in making them uncomfortable (or at least make them look at her strangely.) Rusui remembers every life she has had, but unlike a lot of people who are "immortal," she does not long for death. She loves every life she has, and even though she's a little jaded and talks badly about humans, she really enjoys being around them. To look for the Senshi and the Moon Princess is her mission in life, and once she's found them, to chronicle their existence. She is fascinated by Sailor Moon and the others, and it's a little ironic that even though she has a very high intellect and a lot of experience in the area, she doesn't have the slightest clue that Sailor Moon goes to the same school she does and is only a grade younger. She is very independent and just a little superior because of it and because of her intelligence and her past. It's actually pretty embarrassing for someone who thinks she's so smart and learned to have an irrational aversion to animals. She believes herself to be pretty important compared to normal people, but she is completely humble with respect to the rest of the Senshi. She knows that she isn't as important as them, and that her job is only to write about their mission to save the universe, not take part in it.
