Full Biography

The band was started in the fall of 2001 by guitarist, Keith Maples, and drummer, Eric Parton. They started playing a little every other weekend if they had nothing better to do. Soon after, they met up with a bass player named Chris Bryer. They started to get a little more serious about playing their instruments and playing in a band. A few weeks after Chris joined the band they all decided that their first show would be at the Lakeside High School Battle of the Bands that March. However things did not go according to plan. In January of 2002 Rhythm Guitarist, Joe Kennedy, joined the band. At that time they had no set name but Joe and Keith managed to think up "Blue Moon Levee". Joe thought that they sounded good enough to be playing somewhere besides their own homes so he signed the band up for a talent show at Greenbrier High School.

At their first show they played their own version of Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd. The crowd loved it and called them back out for an encore. The band didn't have another set song ready to play but they came out and took the crowd by surprise when they mixed Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix's versions of All Along the Watchtower in A'minnor and slickly threw on top, parts from Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin including the solo. The crowd was completely blown away by the thundering drum fills and impressive, improvised guitar riffs. The judges "teachers" were not impressed by the bands choice of message "We don't need no, education" and stealing wardrobe from the drama department but the crowd was the only thing they were trying to impress and succeeded but did not place in the final judging. Not placing made the band work even harder on their set list for the Battle of the Bands which was in just a few weeks.

When it came time to sign up the band was still unsure about a name and it caused a lot of fighting within them. Five minutes before the band signed up Joe said Morning Dew and everyone agreed on it so the fight would stop. Days later they decided on the best name yet, Daze of Haze. They called the host for the show and had their name changed. The band played and got 2nd place going over their time limit by 15 mins. and were told that if they came back next year they wouldn’t get as much time to play.

After the B.o.B they met a singer named Dominic Malzzoli. Unfortunately Chris felt that practicing was no longer required and quit coming to practice. The other band members had no other choice but to kick him out. Unfortunately for the band also, Joe was forced to leave by circumstances that will not be mentioned. After that Dominic introduced the band to their new bass play, Eliot Mackert. After only playing one party with the band Dominic told the band that he was moving to Boston. With Dominic gone the band was left with out vocals. And to add to the problem Eliot was also forced to quit as well.

A couple of days later they called a singer they had heard at the B.o.B named Dallas Duff and invited him to come to a practice. For weeks after that Dallas, Keith, and Eric practiced and searched for a bass player. At Dominic’s going away party, Chris heard the band playing and liked that the band had started playing more modern and original songs. Sense the band was in need of a bass player they asked for him to come play bass again.

With the band finally put together, they were able to begin playing gigs. Around the time of September 2002, the band was beginning to play gig after gig. With the help of many local bands, Daze of Haze began to take off in Augusta. The story doesn't stop there though. Daze of Haze plans to go all the way to the top, doing anything needed to get there.
