Welcome to our world!!
Jake and Mike:
A couple of loveable labs!!
We are Jake and Mike, two Labs (chocolate and black respectively) who live and play in cold northern New England.
We are both nearly two years old and take great delight in training our owner to walk us, feed us and play with us.
Our owner's trained to give us a cookie as soon as we sit, roll-over or stay. Our owner also gives us a cookie each time we "take care of business" out back. (The funny thing is, our owner doesn't realize we were gonna to do it anyway, and it didn't require a cookie. Our owner thinks we're doing it for the cookie. Heck, let him think that.)
Our days are filled with a variety of fun and interesting activities. We generally get up about about 5:30 in the morning. We then spend about 20 minutes getting our owner up. We lick his hand, roll-over, sit, wag our tails and make a variety of noises and sounds (some rather rude) until he finally shouts " OK! I'm up!" Our work done, we go back to sleep.
Later we go downstairs and our friendly - and very handsome - owner pours some food in our bowls. He mixes it with some wonderful-tasting stuff from a can and then he puts some powder in it that he says is good for our digestive systems (whatever they are). Each bowl is green and it's all the same to us, but he makes a big deal about  which bowl belongs to who. Whatever!!
Every day we have a race to see who can finish breakfast the fastest. Sometimes our owner will eat his breakfast with us. He's in the race too, but he always loses! He could save a lot of time and wasted motion by putting his face in the bowl like we do.  One time we did let him win. He got nervous and took us to the vet. That was not fun. We'll never let him win again!! (Want to know a secret? We win because we don't chew our food. He chews a lot. Plus he talks to us. We're not listening, but sometimes we wag our tails. That seems to satisfy him.)
After breakfast we go outside and "take care of business." Our owner puts us in a big kennel while he goes off somewhere for the day. We're not sure where he goes, but we hope he has as much fun as us!
Once he's outta our hair, we begin to play. We roll in the dirt, chew on each other's ears, lick each other's face and then have a contest to see who can knock over our dog houses first. They make a lot of noise when they fall over!
There's a dog that lives next door to us and when he comes out we bark at him. It's great fun, because when we start to bark the dog down the street starts and then another dog on the other street starts to bark. In just a few minutes we have about six dogs in the neighborhood barking at once. It's great. It's one of the highlights of our day. (It's a dog thing. You wouldn't understand.)
We also spend a lot of time sleeping. We try to get in a 15-minute nap every 20 minutes or so.
About lunchtime our owner comes back and takes us out for "business." He gives us a cookie, pats us on the head and then leaves again. We repeat our morning routine in the same order and by the time we finish, our owner is back.
He takes us in the house and feeds us and then he gives us big rawhide bones to chew on.
Sometimes he tries to work on his computer, but we make so much noise and bother him so much, he shuts it off and takes us out.
We walk around the neighborhood and look for fun and interesting things to climb into, chew on, or knock over. Sometimes we "take care of business" on the street. Our owner says words we don't understand and then he picks it up. We have no idea why he is saving that stuff, but he puts it into a bag and takes it home. But he doesn't save it all the time. Sometimes, if it's late at night, he throws it into the bushes when he doesn't think we're looking. Hey, he's a human. Go figure.
When we get home we finish our rawhide bones and then it's time for bed. Life's good!!
We're Mike and Jake. Two cool dogs who are washed, brushed,  buffed and lookin' good. We're babe magnets and we know it. We sniff people when they walk by. That's our job. We're good at it.
Here we are in the yard watching for babes. We can only leave the yard with owner supervision.
All dressed up for a another big night on the town. Women can't say no when we put on our hats.
Here we are picking up girls last fall. Sometimes we switch hats, but never collars. We hate these hats, but women seen to like them.
