Comments: I grew up on trains in the area. My dad was an employee of the line for many years, as a station master, telegrapher and dispatcher. The scenes brought back many memories.
Comments: I am looking for information about a California Zephyr derailment in July 1968 or 69,at Moffet Tunnel. I was on that train, and I am trying to find an article or some historic info. Thanks.
Comments: I am building a San Luis Valley Web site and the train station in Antonito, Colorado is one of the big attactions of the San Luis Valley. It has sparked my interest and my search has lead me to you site. It looks great! Keep up the good work.
Comments: I grew up in Leadville, CO, and many of fond childhood memories are of watching the 6 or 8 units dragging up Tennessee Pass. There are several places where you can stop by the highway and be close enough to the engines to see the crews smiling and waving back to a child's frantic waving and pumping of arms in hope of getting a blast off the horns. My house was about 3 miles south of the Malta Yard so I got some great train watching right from my living room.

Comments: Great site.
Comments: Nicely done.
Comments: I really loved this site even though I am a New England Railfan. I love the Rio Grande because they were a magnificent Road.
Comments: Cool Site Keep up the good Work,
Comments: Nice site, but your RGZ page does not open. May want to check MSN. I was born and raised in Denver up until the time I joined the US Navy (1982). I model N scale DRGW. Moving to settle in Florida in December. If you happen to know anyone that has a set of the Con-Cor N scale California Zephyr corrugated passenger cars they wish to sell, please feel free to give them my email address. Thanks again and keep up the Rio Grande pictures. I have some that once I g t my entire computer setup again (after the move) I will try to scan them in and send you. Chris
Comments: The best DRGW site I have visited to date. Thanks.

Comments: A great site. Just stumbled on it (through Google). Cab 01407 is sitting here in my orchard (near Winters, CA) Good to see her sisters. Love the Rio Grande, of course - who could help but love it?
Comments: ManyHA-HAs reading your ArkCanyon Adventure. Made the wife & I feel better we weren't the only Looky-See Loonies in the Gorge trying to catch of the last of the GRANDE and meeting with misadventure, We got caught in the final gasps of hurricane Fausto @ T inidad and saw our tent (with the icechest) go into the top of a Pinon Pine on the way into the area. Had a blast, though and nobody hurt. Sidetracked to Victor and caught first snowfall, etc. You know how silly it gets at altitude. Great to have you hare the same sort of adventures stalking the greatest railroad in the USA instead of just heading to the Ng tourist lines for a cutsey ride on the teakettles. Did you make it to Moffat Tunnel for eight units in Run Eight with an EMPTY train? Nothing li e it anywhere this side of the CP at Rogers' Pass.
Comments: I was priviledged to work for the old Rio Grande in Pueblo, as a yard clerk, communications groundman, and crew dispatcher. The old Grande is truly woven into the history of Colorado and Utah. This is a very nice site- thanks.
Comments: I love your page design the locomotive and your information keep up the good work. Thanks Robert
Comments: I am trying to find an address.phone number, or E-Mail to the Rio Grande Vets club in Grande Junction. I am trying to purchase some DRGW hats and have lost their brochure. Thank You! JP

Comments: Very nice site!
Comments: I live in the UK and in the seventies started to model the Rio Grande in 'N' gauge but events forced me to give up the hobby. Now being on the internet I have descovered that the Rio Grande know longer exists, and many other large Railroads for that matte . You in the US are having the same problems as us over here. I would love to know the history of the Rio Grande from 1978 up to its demice.

Comments: Its few and far between that I get the opportunity to read, much less see photos of the Rio Grande Railroad. Every now and then I see a picture in Trains or Railfan & Railroad. I simply want to know whats left of the railroad and how the big Union Pacific is carving up my old beloved railroad. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska where I only get to watch the new Alaska Railroad SD-70MACS and dream of growing up in Colorado watching the big SD-40T Tunnel Motors head west from Denver. Please keep an update on whats happen
Comments: I grew up in Colorado and have been a fan of the D&RGW since the early 70's. Currently living in Tucson where I have spotted a few Rio Grande locomotives both in original paint and SP paint. Please do not give out my Email address - thanks.
Comments: great sight! I've looked everywhere for a D&RGW sight but this is the best I've found!!
Comments: I like your site! My husband used to live in Denver and has told me all about the Ski Train. We are both huge train fans in general. We recently developed a web site selling wooden replica trains. They are Brio-compatible toy trains with authentic colo s and markings of many American Railroads. We carry a D&RGW diesel engine, hopper, cattle car, and caboose. We are in the process of gathering links to add to our site. Would you be interested in exchanging links? Do you have any ideas of how I could each D&RGW fans to let them know about our products? Thanks. K. Pratt Trains 4 Less http://www.trains4less.com

Comments: I started working for The D&RGW in 1978 and survived phil anshutz Buying and destroying the riogrande with the purchaes of the SP (sourthern Pathetic) and was saved by the UP. Glad to see the pictures of the riogrande power still truly the best part of th new UP Keep up the great work I have loved the picz
Comments: I am very interested in your site you have here. The Rio Grande stands out in my mind from visits to the west years ago to see grandparents. I am a modeler of the Grande and the pics are helpful to my recreation of this era. Keep up the good work.
Comments: Enjoyed your site.
Comments: My grandfather worked for the D&RG and as a kid I rode the ski train to Winter Park from 1968-1979. I have HO trains and take pictures of the Grande and also collect railroad memoriblia from the D & RG. It was a great railroad and I got here by looking up Rio Grande web sites.
Comments: I am a big fan of the Rio Grande. In fact as far as I am concerned it still exsists (sorry UP). I have repainted some of my equipment in D&RGW. Maybe next will be my Dash 9, hmmm....what if....
Comments: Keep the good work,I live in WA now and all I see are BNSF,UP and thats it.We've taken some good close-up pic's of these locomotives in the Centrailia yard. Thank you .
Comments: Enjoyed the site. My grandfather was an engineer for the 'dangerous and rapidly growing worse' line for many years until his retirement. I was raised on stories of the LaVeta pass, Gunnison, and the famous Saguche road. He was based out of Alamosa and drove everything they had that was steam and diesel until he quit. Too bad they got bought out and we'll lose the logo eventually. Thanks for what you've done. Dan Riley
Comments: What a great website! Sure brought back some old memories. I worked as a radio maintainer at Salt Lake City, Denver, and finally Pueblo--with my dad, Vic Beaver, Ed Mackey, and Woody. Those were the days when the Rio Grande was a great family. Sincerely, Victor
Comments: Cool site I especially the photo trips. I model sp and am hoping to get into Re Grande a bit more. One thing im not changing to is Uniun Pacific !!!
Comments: I discovered your wonderful site last winter. I try to visit it each week. As a hobbiest I enjoy viewing the photos of the motive power for referrence material. I missed out viewing the prototype railway when it existed. Yours is a great source of educat on and enjoyment.
Comments: Hello, I recieved e-mail from a friend of mine who is an old Rio Grander as well as my father who worked for Rio Grande for 26 years. I myself work for the Union Pacific currently but went through the many changes of being a Rio Grander and working for So thern Pacific and now Union Pacific at Glenwood Springs. All these have there history behind their names but not quite as interesting as the Denver and Rio Grande. I've just seen a little bit of your website and it looks quite interesting keep up the good work.
Comments: I really like the weg site.
Comments: Great site. I'm going to model from Pueblo to Salida, over Marshall Pass into Gunnison, onto Montrose and finally into Grand Junction all in S Scale - Standard gauge. And some S narrow gauge from Mears Junction south to Alamosa.
