About the site
So here's a (hopefully) more pleasant, colourful and readable design. I've converted to mainly sans-serif fonts, since I've learnt in all these years on the web they're the most readable on screen, especially on higher resolutions or small screens, while the default font on browsers is Times, of the serif family. You can still change font sizes, but also everything else as with the basic design I was using before (which looked a bit plain after all), as there's a button on the Opera browser which allows you to view webpages in your personal mode (there's a button near the address field). There's also an image behind the white background, but it's very small, repeating on the screen (only 3 KB). You can read more about my design policy on the Do It Yourself page.

Site archive
You can still see for curiosity the old index pages:
the Geocities wizard 2000,
the first HTML 2000/2001,
Teletext 2001 and
the Basic HTML 2002.

The URLs
http://www.aneworderfan.zor.org is the easy address of A New Order Fan. You can also simply type aneworderfan.zor.org
Another short URL is http://www.aneworderfan.cjb.net
http://www.aneworderfan.ontheweb.com should still work, but it sometimes displays error messages.
http://surf.to./aneworderfan should still work too, but it's full of pop ups and prompts to install adware.
http://www.geocities.com/dgmichael73 is the original address of the main page without the pop up window. There's still the Geocities box ad though, to remove it from the screen you just have to click on the up arrow of the box.
http://www.geocities.com/aneworderfan is an entry for this site, the address is more matching with the name of the site than the one of this account (dgmichael73), and you don't have all the annoying problems of redirectors. So you can use this as an easy address instead of the main one.
If you reach this site into a frame and want to view it on the full browser window click here.
Unfortunately the most known address, http://stop.at/aneworderfan, does not work anymore, http://stop.at/meshweb and http://www.meshweb.tk, which were the address of the site during the Mesh month, http://cyberlink.to/teletext, http://www.aneworderfan.tk and http://www.mick973.tk neither.
http://www.neworder.zor.org is the easy address of The NewOrders.
The original address is http://www.geocities.com/dgmichael73/neworders.html
http://stop.at/theneworders, http://www.neworder.musicpage.com and http://www.neworders.tk don't work anymore.
http://www.movement.zor.org is the easy address of Movement.
The original address is http://www.geocities.com/dgmichael73/movement.html
http://stop.at/movement and http://jump.to/movement don't work anymore.

Name history
This site started in 2000 as dgmichael73 / Blue Monday. The first part of the name is my Geocities account (I hadn't any redirector back then), the second is my favourite song ever. There was only a problem: I then found out that a Blue Monday site already existed!
The names of the other songs I would have used (586, Temptation, Perfect Kiss, True Faith, World In Motion) had also already been taken during the history of New Order fan sites on the Internet. You can learn more about this history, and find all these sites on Movement.
Of course there are other great New Order songs, but I thought that titles like Everything's Gone Green or Regret weren't as good for a website somehow... same about the albums...

As many of you will know, the name of the site became A New Order Fan, I'd been inspired by A New Order Webpage, which referred to the announcements on New Order ads in 1993 which read "A New Order release"... I liked how it sounded generic and yet meant something at the same time.
I just thought it was a bit too long and complicated in its nick form (Aneworderfan), and I wanted a name referring to something released by New Order, after having briefly considered 316, the DVD containing two of the best New Order concerts ever, but a bit complicated to read for some (should I always explain it's "Three-sixteen" and why?) I decided for Mesh (which also means the spaces of a net, hence appropriate for something on the net, since this site is a space in a net...).
Cries And Whispers was one of the names I didn't think to use, until very recently it seemed that was the title of a wonderful rare New Order song, which appeared only on the Everything's Gone Green single and the 1981-1982 American compilation, though here it's already titled Mesh. The common opinion was that the compilation mistaken the titles and that the further compilation Substance (in 1987), which titles Mesh as the other EGG B side, was correct. Now the Retro box set lists Cries And Whispers as the song already appeared on Substance, and Steve Morris has confirmed that the song was mistitled in 1987. So Mesh is actually the rarest song, one of my favourite ever (I adore the tune and the instruments), it's a shame it's so underrated, it seems from New Order themselves as well, it remains a hidden gem, so I think it deserves a tribute with the title of this site.
Actually it doesn't really matter so much which song is Mesh, as both, the rarest and less rare, are absolutely excellent. It's just that now we know the right titles.

Cries And Whispers is the one appearing not only on the Everything's Gone Green single, but also on the common Substance CD and Retro. Great rhythm and keyboard, the lyrics (according to NewOrderOnline.com, where you can find all the lyrics and info for every song ever made by a New Order related band, and where I took the 1981-82 image shown here) start this way:
Below the surface this day I need it light
Inside dimension lies another sacrifice
Once out of reach, we never speak, we never compromise
As they turned to gold the edges froze and seemed to turn to ice

Mesh appears only on the EGG single, on 1981-82, on a now rare tape edition of Substance and a rare Crepuscole compilation. The song is perfectly touching, I adore the angular guitar over a fabulous rhythm section, and that atmospheric keyboard. The lyrics start so:
The antique sea
Hopes and fears are
All we ever see
We made a contract
In a field of snow

So it became Mesh, but then changed my mind again, I just realised I became fond of the name A New Order Fan and I was missing it, as it seems some of you did... the Italian visitors especially, who don't know what a mesh is and know myself by this nick... I was happy to come back to the nick and the name of the site which is the most known and most original... so here it is A New Order Fan again! :-)
