Walker's Cay, Abaco, Bahamas - 2000

Music is Jimmy Buffet's Grapefruit JuicyFruit

In June 2000, I went on another fishing trip to Walker's Cay, this time with a friend and my brother-in-law. My girls, then 13 and 15, wanted to experience the Bahamas so we arranged to fly them over for a few days to see how they liked it. The girls didn't arrive until we had already been in Walker's for a few days and had done a bit of fishing. Here we are with our catch of the day!

Then it was time for the girls to make the trip over. They boarded the seaplane in Ft. Lauderdale and arrived safely, although there were mixed feelings about the flight. I loved it when I went in 1999 but they weren't really thrilled with it. They had a nice new plane for their trip, a cool purple one! Even so, they decided to come back to the US via the boat.

The girls enjoyed the fishing and the boating, although Lisa didn't wake up much before noon any of the days out. She slept through a lot of the fishing! I had told them all about Rosie's, the local restaurant which required a short boat ride to the neighboring island, Grand Cay. We all piled in the water taxi one night and had a good dinner plus a nice boat ride.

Everyone had a great time but it was time to get back to the USA. We got up early the last day, enjoyed the sunrise, then started out across the Atlantic. The crossing was smooth and we were lucky enough to have porpoises swimming right along with us part of the time. Later that night we came through the Jupiter Inlet and stayed nearby at The Jib Yacht Club and Marina in Tequesta, Florida, then came home up the ICW the following day. When we finally got to the dock where the boat lives we were tanned and tired and agreed we'd all like to go again!
