William Latney Osborne - Generation 2    

 William Latney Osborne was the son of Marshall and Sally Unknown Osborne and he was born in 1834 in NC and found on the 1850 census listed as a farmer in Stokes County.    He died 07 November 1908 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC.  Most of his adult life  he is listed as a saddler.  He first worked from someone else and then he and his brother Peter Andrew Osborne were in the harness business.  You can find their add in the business section of the Charlotte City Directory.  He was buried the 7 Nov 1908 in the Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.  He died of  Bright's disease, which is a kidney disease.  He is buried in plot #8, Sec C, Lott 33.  
     William Latney Osborne was an older brother to Ezekiel Newton Osborne.   He married Dorcas Todd 27 July 1864 in Mecklenburg Co., NC and witnessed by Wm Maxwell, married by J.P. Ross, JP.  Marriage Bonds pg 182 for Mecklenburg Co.     There were children.  One was a son Edward C. Osborne.  There is a letter dated 1911 written and simply signed Dorcas to Mary Arkansas Wolf Osborne concerning the death of her husband Ezekiel Newton Osborne, who would have been W. L.'s younger brother.  E. N. Osborne's obituary says he is survived by a sister and that would have been the sister Sally, named on the 1850 census of  NC and mentioned in the letter spoken about above.  Son, W. L. was also deceased by 1911. 
     In the 1920 Mecklenburg Co., listing, Darcus Osborne is age 85 and was listed  as mother to Edward C. with whom she was living.  Her birthplace was listed as NC.  There was a wife for Edward C. listed as Minnie L. Rigler, b. 1876,  who was the daughter of John and Mary Hunneycutt Rigler.  It listed a brother to Edward C,  living with them ,  Wm. L. Osborne.  Edward C. had a  daughter,  Mary,  18 and a son,  Latney,  16 both born in NC  also listed.  Dorcas died in 1923 and is buried in plot 12 of the family section  in the Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.

This is a picture of three children labeled as nephews of Ezekiel Newton Osborne.  Do not know exactly who they are.  The one in the middle is listed as Willie Oder.  The others did not have a name.   


Edward Clarence Osborne - Generation 3

Edward son of Latney William Osborne, was born in 1875 in NC.  He married Minnie Rigler about 1901 in Charlotte, NC.  She was very likely the daughter of John and Mary Hunneycutt Rigler.  She was born in 1876 in Charlotte, NC.  He was buried 8 Oct 1950 in the Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte. NC.  
Following is his wife's obituary.  Minnie Rigler Osborne, 87 widow of Edward C. Osborne, of Lenoir, NC and formerly of Charlotte, died late Monday night in Lenoir.  She was born 8 Nov 1875 in Charlotte but has made her home in Lenoir with her daughter for the past 10 years.  Mrs. Osborne was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charlotte.  Survived by her daughter, Mrs. G. W. (Mary) Sullivan of Lenoir, son, L.W. Osborne of Charlotte, three sisters, Mrs. Jerry Hall, Miss Connie Rigler, Miss Mary Belle Rigler, all of Charlotte, two grandchildren and a great grandchild.  The service was conducted by Dr,. Philip L. Shore the pastor of the church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery by Miller and Kerns.
