Descendants of Peter Andrew Osborne - Generation 3

PETER ANDREW3 OSBORNE (MARSHALL2, UNKNOWN1) was born 1851 in Statesville, Iredell Co., NC, and died 12 June 1905 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC. He married EMMA BARBARA SPRINGS Abt. 1875. She was born 03 February 1856 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC, and died  11 April 1916 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC.
Family tradition has it that Peter Andrew Osborne was kicked by a horse and subsequently died. This data was passed down by Elizabeth Osborne, daughter of Ezekiel Newton Osborne, a brother to Peter.
A descendant of Peter Andrew Osborne has passed this data to me as coming from a distant relative of hers and a person who lived across the street from the Peter Andrew Osborne family in Charlotte, NC, at the time of his death.
He, Eli Springs, wrote in a letter, "Peter died an agonizing death from a pony kick in the stomach (it was William's pony) and gagged for 2 days trying to catch his breath. His heart gave out and he passed on" Fact is know that Peter died in 1905 at the about age 55. His son William born in 1893 would have been about 12. It is noted that it was his pony causing the fatal accident.

He states that he would talk to her so I don't know if she was just slow or what. She has a footstone with initials CMO, but is not on the headstone as there was no more room to add her name or Augustus Franklin's and he has a footstone too. Connie was never married.

SARAH AUGUSTUS4 OSBORNE (PETER ANDREW3, MARSHALL2, UNKNOWN1) was born 18 October 1876 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC, and died 04 February 1901 in Funeral held at residence on Franklin street in maybe Monroe or Charlotte, since she was buried in Charlotte it may have been there. She lived in Monroe when she died.. She married D. FRANK THOMAS 1900 in Charlotte NC then moved to Monroe. He was born 09 October 1867, and died 27 July1906.The account of her funeral was found in a copy of notice held by Elizabeth Osborne Vickrey. It reads:
Mrs. D.F. Thomas, whose illness was noted last week, died on Tuesday night after several days of extensive suffering.  Mrs. Thomas was a Miss Gussie Osborne of Charlotte, a daughter of Mr. P.A. Osborne. She married to Mr. Thomas a year ago last Thursday and came immediately to Monroe to live. She was genial and kindly in disposition, true and unselfish in her nature and there were many people here in her adopted home as well as in Charlotte who heard of her heath with genuine sorrow. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and consistently lived the Christian life, the life which is full of love and sympathy and charity and help and which points unfailingly to the greater life beyond.
The funeral services were held at the residence on west Franklin street and the remains were interred in the cemetery here at 5:00 o'clock Wednesday evening. (A head stone for her is found in her father's plot in Charlotte so there is some question here).  The deceased was about 27 years old. Besides her family in Charlotte, her husband and infant, only three days old, survive her.  Mr. and Mrs. Osborne, and Misses Nettie McBride, Kate Northey and Flora Russell and perhaps others from Charlotte attended the funeral.
Resolutions by the Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian Church - Whereas, it has pleased god in his infinite wisdom and mercy to remove from this world of sin and sorrow our sister, Mrs. D. F. Thomas-- Resolved, 1st. That the church on earth sustains the loss of a true consecrated follower; that while we mourn for the loss of one whose life and responsibilities seemed just to have commenced, we rejoice that death was for her gain, and bow in humble submission to Him who doeth all things for the best of reasons.  2nd. That we extend out heartfelt sympathy to her husband in his loneliness and grief and her family in its deep sorrow. we pray xxxxxxxxx words not recognizable as this is a copy and not an original article.
