Descendants of
Peter Andrew Osborne - Generation 3
Mrs. D.F. Thomas, whose illness was noted last week, died on Tuesday night after several days of extensive suffering. Mrs. Thomas was a Miss Gussie Osborne of Charlotte, a daughter of Mr. P.A. Osborne. She married to Mr. Thomas a year ago last Thursday and came immediately to Monroe to live. She was genial and kindly in disposition, true and unselfish in her nature and there were many people here in her adopted home as well as in Charlotte who heard of her heath with genuine sorrow. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and consistently lived the Christian life, the life which is full of love and sympathy and charity and help and which points unfailingly to the greater life beyond. The funeral services were held at the residence on west Franklin street and the remains were interred in the cemetery here at 5:00 o'clock Wednesday evening. (A head stone for her is found in her father's plot in Charlotte so there is some question here). The deceased was about 27 years old. Besides her family in Charlotte, her husband and infant, only three days old, survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Osborne, and Misses Nettie McBride, Kate Northey and Flora Russell and perhaps others from Charlotte attended the funeral. Resolutions by the Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian Church - Whereas, it has pleased god in his infinite wisdom and mercy to remove from this world of sin and sorrow our sister, Mrs. D. F. Thomas-- Resolved, 1st. That the church on earth sustains the loss of a true consecrated follower; that while we mourn for the loss of one whose life and responsibilities seemed just to have commenced, we rejoice that death was for her gain, and bow in humble submission to Him who doeth all things for the best of reasons. 2nd. That we extend out heartfelt sympathy to her husband in his loneliness and grief and her family in its deep sorrow. we pray xxxxxxxxx words not recognizable as this is a copy and not an original article.
