Infernal Hails...... My name is Wilhelm , I'm a Metal Fan.... My 1st Metal Cd was Scorpions "World wide Live" Back in 1986. As the years went by I got into the more extreme side of metal. I discovered bands like MEGADETH, ANTHRAX, NUCLEAR ASSAULT,DARK ANGEL, DESTRUCTION, SODOM, CELTIC FROST,BLOODFEAST, by going to concerts in the late 80's. I went to about every concert I was able to go to. I still regret never seen Bands like POSSESED and CELTIC FROST play live, it was tough keeping up with every band that played.. I got to see many great shows, like DESTRUCTION, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, DARK ANGEL (When they were trying out new singer , after original singer quit?)Megadeth, SAVATAGE and Dio in one show... that was a killer show... Man... those were the good days when metal ruled, and no one was trying to copy eachother's sound like some of today's bands do. Every band back then had their own sound,MERCIFUL FATE,KING DIAMOND, SAVATAGE,were taking metal to new boundaries. KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION, were the unholy German Trinity, and the growing American Scene, which brought the "Bay Area" sound (San Francisco , California)and bands like DEATH ANGEL, TESTAMENT, VIO-LENCE , and on New York you had bands like ANTHRAX, OVERKILL, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, and crossover bands like AGNOSTIC FRONT, and the bay area's own D.R.I. Los Angeles had SLAYER, EXCEL, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES,MEGADETH,each band had their own style of extreme music. In the beginning of the '90s DEATH METAL started to surface from the underground .. I still remember getting the first DEATH LP "Scream Bloody Gore" and being blown away by its extreme sound, who would have thought back then that DEATH METAL will get so big.. Some killer bands from that era included NECROPHAGIA, DEATH, early SEPULTURA,CANCER,DISMEMBER, AUTOPSY etc.... Few years later when you thought metal couldn't get any extreme British bands like CARCASS, AND NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, and Florida's own devils MORBID ANGEL came out with GRINDCORE, which later got mixed with DEATH METAL, AND a new sound started to surface from the underground called DEATH/GRIND...some greats from that era were DISGRACE, XYSMA,FUNEBRE, IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, MORTICIAN, and more unknown brazilian bands like ,SARCOFAGO and SEXTHRASH were bringing their own brutal sound Brazilian Style.
Years later SUFFOCATION and CANNIBAL CORPSE came up with some of the
sickest, heaviest, death grind albums.... which later brought on a
bunch of clones trying to match their sound and brutallity....
All the while, a new sound was surfacing from the cold northern regions
of Scandinavia... In Switzerland BATHORY came out with a new sound
which later came known as Black Metal.... Every body who had a band went from death metal, to black metal
which brought on lots of controversy, about who were the true
Black Metal Bands AND who were the trend followers....
There is some great bands like old Mayhem, DARKTHRONE, IMMORTAL,
ENSLAVED, DARK FUNERAL,BLOODSTORM, ROTTING CHRIST, NECROMANTIA, and more unknown kult bands like THYRANE, ALGHAZANTH, GORGOROTH,WARLOGHE,
and some bands that bring back the old spirit of the 80's like
USURPER, CRANIUM, DEATHWITCH, etc....
What will the new extreme in music be?
