The medals shown on this page are not intended to be a complete listing of Czechoslovak or British decorations around the time of the Second World War. Instead, they represent those which are most likely to have been awarded to the soldiers of the Czechoslovak Brigade, for the purposes of general interest and identification from the ribbons or the medals themselves.

1. CZECHOSLOVAK WAR CROSS 1939

Bronze Greek cross 44mm across, ribbon 40mm wide.

Repeat award indicated by a gold branch of Linden leaves on the ribbon.

 

2. CZECHOSLOVAK MEDAL FOR GALLANTRY IN THE FACE OF THE ENEMY
(ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ MEDAILE ZA CHRABROST PŘED NEPŘÍTELEM)

Bronze, 33mm across, ribbon 40mm wide.

Repeat award indicated by a bronze twig on the ribbon.

 

3. CZECHOSLOVAK MILITARY MEDAL FOR MERIT
(ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ VOJENSKÁ MEDAILE ZA ZÁSLUHY)

Awarded in two classes, Silver and Bronze, for merit while not in action against the enemy.

Medal 32mm across, ribbon 31mm wide.

 

4. COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE CZECHOSLOVAK ARMY ABROAD
(PAMĚTNÍ MEDAILE ČESKOSLOVENSKÉ ARMÁDY V ZAHRANIČÍ)

Bronze, 38mm across, 48mm vertically, ribbon 38mm wide.

Bronze badges on the ribbon indicate the location of involvement: "SSSR" (USSR); "Velká Británie" (Great Britain); "Francie" (France); "Střední východ" (Middle East). Secondary locations may be indicated by smaller badges with the initials "SSSR"; "VB"; "F"; "SV".

 

5. COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE SECOND NATIONAL REVOLT
(PAMĚTNÍ MEDAILE DRUHÉHO NÁRODNÍHO ODBOJ)
