Euro Lambretta Jamboree 2001 - Langenthal, Switzerland

Sunday morning and
everyone was busily packing up, some people having to try to make ferries
the following night! Mossy was nursing an injury, having fallen over
a barrier while mucking about the night before! Nothing new there
head then!! After the photos and speeches we headed off, the decision
having been made to head for Strasbourg.
We bumped into Mossy
and Marvo shortly after we arrived to find Mossy had snapped his frame.
We all booked into a hotel and went out leaving Mossy to nurse his injured
arm meeting up with Moy, Tom Petch, Kev Walsh and various other reprobates
for a drink.
We hung around on
Monday like the good samaritans we were until we were sure Mossy and Marvo
were sorted and then set out to see how many miles we could get under our
belts. We eventually ended up in Martelange, a one-horse hick town
(and I use the term ‘town’ loosely) right on the border between Luxembourg
and Belgium. It boasted little of any interest except half a dozen
petrol stations all next to each other on a hill. Bizarre!
After fixing my clutch cable (cheers lads!) we hiked into town to get something
to eat but everything was shut. However, we raided all the petrol
stations and ended up having a midnight picnic in our room. It tasted
soooo good after having waited so long for it and having to walk miles
to get it!! ….UPHILL!!!!
We were aiming to spend our last night in Brugges so we tried (again!) to get an early start. Don’t ask me why but it didn’t matter how early we got up or how hard we tried we never managed to get away from anywhere before 11am!! Another night on the town. The holiday and the fact we were on our way home started to take its toll! We ended up complaining about the food in the restaurant (we made the wrong choice again Graham – next time I’m having what Linda’s having!!) and decided we were better off sticking to a liquid diet. By 2am though most of us were flagging but not Martin and Graham who again decided to make an ‘all night’ night of it again, knocking us out of bed at 6 the next morning after getting lost and spending hours wandering around before stumbling across the right address.
We did the tourist
bit, taking the river boat trip, buying pressies, feeding our face with
cake and lazing around in the sun before packing up and heading back to
Zeebrugge for the ferry home.
