First seen by explorer's eyes 500 years ago, the island of Manhatten has always been a source of great wonder. This is Tony and Virginia Lewis' world and it gets several unexpected visitors over the course of one night. All in pursuit of an unique dog, a human wolf and three tempermental trolls enter a place with horseless carriages, engaging sights and sounds, and awesome skyscrapers. They have for the moment, arrived in the mythical Tenth Kingdom where mayhem rules and magical possiblities hang in the air.

On the run from the law back in his own world, Tony Lewis steps through a mirror only to find himself in a prison. Snow White Memorial Prison, more specifically where beanstalk cuisine is on the menu three times a day and the govenor loves to make inmates break rocks with their teeth. Which works out rather well, since the Tooth Fairy happens to be the prison dentist. Surrounded by inmates named Clayface who have a pension for carving things(mostly other people) Tony Lewis discovers there is nothing fair in this prison.

Dark in both beauty and intrigue, the Disenchanted Forest is where our heroes get cursed by gypsies, learn wisdom from an old woman gathering sticks, make their first escape from the Huntsman and answer the riddle of a blind woodsman in order to obtain his axe. They also find shelter from the rain at Snow White's cottage located deep in amongst the trees. The forest is a thousand miles long but only a few miles wide. It is located between the banks of Rivertown and the outer pastures of Little Lamb Village.

With its rolling meadows, grazing sheep and buxom shepherdesses, Little Lamb Village is the picture perfect scene of serenity. Soon however, despite Wolf's warnings, Tony and Virginia discover otherwise. Wolf begins acting very moody, Virginia enters a contest to win her a ticket home and Tony discovers that the resident Peep family have a deep dark secret. Making things more complicated is the murder of Sally Peep and the subsequent trial at which Wolf's neck is literally on the line.

Billed as the most romantic place in the Nine Kingdoms, Kissingtown is definately a place for lovers. Populated by well-dressed people strolling hand in hand, with heart shaped pink, red and white balloons swaying above casinos, restaurants, hotels and a jewellers. Tony, Virginia, Wolf and Prince enter the town searching for the magic mirror. Unbeknownst to them, the Huntsman is on their trail and soon shows up in time to ruin their plans. In Kissingtown a lot of things get shattered, like a travelling mirror and a couple of hearts.

Now a trio, the journey leads Prince and the Lewises to Dragon Mountain, the underground Ninth Kingdom of the Dwarves. The dwarves, residents of the mountains since the exitinction of the last male dragon, use the quicksilver mined there to create magic mirrors. Tony and Virginia go seeking their help but time is running out as the Huntsman closes in, while the Trolls seek to avenge their father's death. Having a cursed father with a broken back and no Wolf to depend on, Virginia turns to the fairest of them all for some words of wisdom.

Located on the border between the Elves 7th kingdom and Prince Wendell's 4th kingdom, Deadly Swamp is inhabited by glowing pixies, singing mushrooms, not to mention the resting place of the Swamp Witch. Everyone thinks that they can handle the swamp and at first it seems easy. Just remember these three simple rules: DON'T DRINK THE WATER, EAT THE MUSHROOMS OR FALL ASLEEP. But Tony and Virginia soon forget the most important rule of all...rules are meant to be broken.

At first glance the beautiful and immaculate kept grounds of the palace seem stately and regal, yet behind these walls there is panic. The Crown Prince is missing and the Counsel of the Fourth Kingdom are at a lost to stop the Troll King's army advancing across the land. Not to mention, the coronation date is fast approaching and the guests are on their way. They say you can't stop fate but the counsel would be happy if they could just delay it for awhile.
