Zedekiah is not listed in any census but his wife Mary and some children are listed in the 1900 Estill County, KY census. Mary is listed as a widow in household of eldest son James.
In notes from Earnest Cody after Zed's death, son Ancil sold farm and family moved to Lee County, Virginia.
Ernest says they came to Va to work in iron mines and when mines
were worked out, started coal mining. Estell County has iron mines.
When the family came to Va. James didn't come. Family legend says that he went west with cousin Will. According to family legend Cousin Will was William F (Buffalo Bill) Cody. No information found to go with this. Buffalo Bill's lineage well-documented, no connection made.
Cousin Will is possibly Cousin Wils (short for Wilson) son of Frederic.
James is found on 1900 census Estill County, Kentucky with wife and children.

Mary Johnson was said to be small, dark woman. Family legend
says that she was full blooded Cherokee.
She slept on a small cot. One day she laid down on her cot and
just passed away.
