Your Marriage May Be In Danger - 1.28.2000

There is a proposition on the California March 7th ballot that if passed, will make homosexual marriages performed in other states, invalid in California.  The tag line is, "Protect marriage, yes on 22."  Whose marriage is being protected?   My marriage seems unthreatened.  I'm I missing something?  Perhaps the fear is that repressed homosexuals who are living behind the facade of a heterosexual marriage, might leave their partners for a homosexual marriage.  That would mean the proposition is probably being sponsored by the spouses of repressed homosexuals.   Hmmm.

Seriously, I think the supporters of Proposition 22 should honestly assess what their motives are. Do they realIy fear that marriage will lose it's place as the ultimate pledge of commitment to another or is it that they just don't like homosexuals and want to limit their rights. Voters should think carefully before supporting any proposition that is based on spite and exclusion.
