Thursday

Things have lessened up, and I found myself with absolutely nothing to do, and an idle thought brought me back to the desert; back to my friends the ferilons. It has been a long time since my last visit, but it seems that Terak and Kyga remember me still. I brought treats for the whole family, and spent all afternoon watching them.

Casei
The silver-grey cub has grown up to be a startling beauty; unfortunately, she's unaware of her beauty, being the shyest of the group. Her pelt is both light and dark grey, and she sports buff fur like a mane, across her belly, and around her ankles like legwarmers. I've chosen to call her Casei.

Samec
The second cub, the dark one, truly does have tufted ears, to my pleased surprise. He's dark as coffee, with rich cocoa fur down his neck and back, and around his ankles and at the tip of his tail like a lion. His name is Samec, and he boasts a strong yowl.

Ekso
The stripes of the third cub have become distinct, and in maturity, a rich, firey blaze graces his face. Ekso also has a stripe of creamy pale fur running from his head straight down to the tip of his tail, with a wider swath across his back. It's very noticable across the distances, and Ekso seems very vain about it.

Ivi
Ivi is the fourth cub. Her horns stick straight out from her rich brown pelt, and glint in the perpetual summer sunlight. Strangely, her eyes seem to be completely white. It's eerie, but she seems to be able to see all right. She's a very feisty one, and if she ever takes a mate, he'll have to be wary of her extra weaponry.

The four cubs and their parents get along well, and though they "fight" I know that they're happy and content.

Wednesday

It seems that the striped Ekso has been wandering away from his sandy home. His distinctive looks make him stand out quite well -- he was spotted courting a beautiful ferilon named Jaho - very dark fur with fire markings and silver accents with splendid feather wings. If what I have been told is to be trusted, her ego is almost as big as Ekso's.

I certainly hope his courtship pays off - what splendid offspring a pair like this would bring!

Sunday

Ekso's home again, to stay I think. His bachellorette sisters Ivi and Casei are fawning all over the pair of cubs that have come with him. One is silvery gray, with what appears to be the tiny nubs of horns on its head. He... or she? looks so much like Ivi did as a cub!

Terak and Kyga were investigating their grand-cubs when I arrived, and seemed to be pleased. I'm no ferilon expert (yet) but I know acceptance when I see it.

The second cub is a deeply colored creature, with darker stripes, and wings like Jaho. Though it can't be very old yet, it sure is fast, and probably will be flying any day now. Feather-winged ferilons can fly, even though fey-winged ones (like Ilia's Orski) cannot.

I've decided to call the winged cub Velocity. It will be okay no matter what gender this winged cub actually is. Sometimes I wonder what Ferilons name themselves/each other, and what they name me. Though Neither Terak nor Kyga or their adult offstring will get close enough to me to let me touch them, but Velocity got close. Very close, before Ekso called it back.

Saturday

Iliamina came down from her ranch to see the cubs, and to check on Roeo & Jiet and the rest of the cast. She was delighted with Velocity, and wanted to take her with, but Ekso wouldn't let the winged girl near his winged cub.

I tried to tell Ilia that these were wild ferilons, and that they didn't really like the company of strange two-legged things much... and then Velocity crawled into my lap for a nap before Ekso could put a stop to it... So much for that idea!

Monday

It has been a long while since I visited Terak and Kyga's grandbabies... it seems that Velocity and her calmer sister Verity have grown up...

Verity (truth)Velocity (speed)
