Day 7
A warm wind is blowing from the south-west, sending little whirlwinds of sand scittering around the softly combed dunes. An a sheltered area off to my left, lies a long-eared creature... A Ferilon.
There is one striking male standing guard over his territory. He's orange, with black stripes. It's no wonder that he's come to reside near the Den. No wonder at all.
I call him Terak, and (through more than just a little research) I've come to know that he's a Ferilon of the Reant Desert Tribe. He was most likely born in the Wo'ak Desert, on the Kiran Continent, and he migrated here long ago; mere days after the Ferilon Farm opened. High BeastMistress Raanatani runs it; and it may prosper, given the right... publicity.
There are several different tribes of Ferilon, and each one has a somewhat distinctive look, and a different home on the planet Zekira. So far, only this tiger-like male has come here.
Day 42
It's been quite some time since I stepped out into my own private "sandbox" of a desert to check up on Terak. I'd been leaving him some treats every few days, and they always vanished, but I hadn't seen him, so I haven't written. Today, I saw something exciting. Terak's got a friend.
She's a rather quiet, reserved female, who is also from the desert, from the looks of her pelt and long ears. As different as they are, they seem to enjoy each other's company. Perhaps they will become mates?
Day 103
Sure enough, Kyga and Terak have gotten together. She's heavy with cubs, and I await the day they arrive.
Sunday
I've lost track of the days, since my life is hectic. I've come back to the warmth of the desert, where I can work on my tan even in the chill of the winter. Kyga now has four cubs with her. Four! Can you believe it? Terak has come within shouting range, and he's barked (for lack of better description) at me to stay back. Very protective. Good of him.
The first cub is a sortof metallic grey, with bright eyes, and is very submissive to the other cubs and to Terak and Kyga. I cannot tell for sure what gender this one is, nor the others from this distance, and I did not bring binoculars. Silly me.
The second cub is rustred/brown in color, and may have tufted ears. I'm not too sure. The same bright eyes peer from it's dark face.
The third cub is fantastic. Platinum grey, with the barest hint of stripes like Terak! How exciting!
The fourth cub is all curled up beside Kyga; and is darkly brown like the second. He... or she? has two bright dots over her eyes. I can't tell if they're spots or what; neither Terak nor Kyga has markings like that.
As exciting as this all was, and as much as I wanted to rush over and cuddle the cubs, I cannot. Life called me back, and I must follow it's wishes. Time passes, and I don't get to see the cubs grow up; not nearly as much as I would have liked to at least.
