Christina
Aguilera has taken the music industry by storm, obtaining three
Grammys, an ALMA award, and a MVPA video award. She has visited
the US charts on each one of her releases. In 2002, she released
her second studio option. All this, and she's only 21. Not too shabby,
huh?
|
Aguilera
began life on January 18, 1980 in Staten Island, New York. Her mother
played
violin and piano for a living, and her father was in the armed
services. Because of this, her family moved often, jumping from
place to place until they finally settled in Wexford, Pennsylvania.
|

A
lot of my past is in this record. |
It
was here that Aguilera began singing at school talent shows. At
the age of 8, she made her first national appearence on the hit
show, Star Search. Two years later, she sung the national anthem
at Steelers Football games. At 12 years old, she became a part of
Disney's The Mickey Mouse Club, along side of other major
pop stars such as Britney Spears. From here, Aguilera finally moved
to Japan in order to record "All I Wanna Do" with Keizo
Nakanishi. She also recorded "Reflection" for Disney's
Mulan. She signed with RCA shortly after.
|
After
months of work in the studio, Aguilera released her debut album
under the RCA label. "Genie in a Bottle" rushed to
the top of the US charts. In September 1999, it entered the
chart at the number one spot. Aguilera followed that up with
her next release, "What a Girl Wants" which also flew

the
top. In October 2000, she released "Come On Over Baby.
|
In
Summer 2001, Aguilera decided to turn up the heat with the "Lady
Marmalade" video, which she did with Mya, Lil Kim, Pink, and
Missy Elliot for the movie "Moulin Rogue"
|
The
sexually charged appearence continued into 2002 with the release
of Aguilera's second album, "Stripped". The album
symbolizies a change for her emotionally as well as with her
appearence. |

I
just get really bored with sticking to the norm and having the
proper conservative image. |
Her
latest release off of that album, "Dirrty", which features
Redman, has yet to achieve the success of her previous work.
