TJ - I gotta agree

TJ, you (and Yahoo/E-Groups) can add CHRISTIANS of the UNITED STATES
to the list of unhappy campers. We too have spent almost two years
building this online group/ministry and this merger could well undo
everything we have worked so hard to build. I'd say we are NOT happy
campers at all. We want to roll with the changes, but not if the
changes are going to unravel all the work the Lord has done in the
last two years to bring internet Christians together in Unity. The
only feature I think we will like so far is the Pending members
thing. We too have several people who we would just as soon didn't
join, though they seem to keep finding new and creative ways to get
back in even after a founder has deleted them.
Yahoo and E-groups both should realize that Clubs are much different
from groups. Our members enjoying getting to know each other via the
Club, the "personal" touches are going to go completely missing if
this merger makes Clubs nothing more than a huge mailing list. Things
just aren't going to be the same and I hope all of Yahoo Clubs
survive this merger, I have a feeling many will die on the vine when
all is said and done.
Be blessed,
Rain †

hello everyone
there have been comments about the
format of Yahoo groups. Lets keep one thing in mind, this is
an early beta version. There are features promised, stuff to
come and stuff not yet working. Before we write off Yahoo
Groups as being non-workable or just not what you want, wait
awhile to see what the final version may be like. When
all is said and done in a few months, this may all be totally
different and not so bad :-)

Awhile back Warren stated that this wasn't the final version, that
there was more to come.
He said
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"does NOT include all the functionality that will be in place before
Yahoo! Clubs migrates to the service.
We plan to include the following in time for the Clubs migration:
1) Recent message summaries just like Clubs has now
2) Full Yahoo! Calendar integration (The current version of Groups
has the eGroups calendar in place, but we will replace this with
Yahoo! Calendar functionality )
3) Yahoo! Photos integration -- even better than what's currently in
Clubs, you'll be able to order prints and send photos as Yahoo!
Greetings
4) Yahoo! Briefcase integration -- an improvement of the current
Clubs setup
4) Enhanced stats modules
5) Full Yahoo! Voice Chat integration -- resized for better usability.
6) Privacy of email IP address -- display only your Yahoo! ID in your
group if you post via the web.
and even more.
That's the main message -- this isn't the final version that all
Clubs users will interact with. We're still tweaking the interface
prior to Clubs integration, so don't get too hung up on this current
version. If anything Clubs users are getting a world of new
functionality, customizability, and access control not currently
possible on Clubs."
Hello all, I am now strongly recommending that
all people convert your Yahoo ID now before the big merge
happens. We have very little information to go on, on
what will happen after the merge but if at that time you need
to do a conversion, there will be many people also
trying at the same time. To convert go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ If you
don't have a Yahoo Groups nickname you will be able to
registar a name there as well. Avoid the rush and get it done
now.
My experience with this group has given me the confidence to set up
another group, along with my wife, so that the members of our clubs
can get experience with Groups prior to the conversion of Clubs.
I thank you very much for helping me get confident enough with the
operation of Groups to do this for our club members.
I won't post the URL to our group here, since I believe that is
gauche and not very appropriate, but anybody who would be interested
in looking at it can e-mail me at: tuskor51@y... and I will send
you an invitation.
Again, it is an honor and a privilege to be a member of both this
experimental Group and the Club that spawned it. You founders are
doing a tremendous service in both places and I am forever in your
debt.
