Subject: Yahoo Clubs/egroups merger

Hi Everyone:

Well I bit the bullet and decided that today was just as good as any
other to inform my club of the pending merger between Yahoo Clubs and
egroups. Already I've had questions. I have given my club members the
link that NOWAYWINS provided in CFC for us. Below is the letter that
I
sent out to my club members.

Mistybunny

IMPORTANT NEWS, PLEASE READ

Hi Everyone:

I don't want to alarm you, but its time that I told you of changes
being made within Yahoo! Clubs. In the very near future you are going
to notice BIG differences in our club, its appearance and how it
works
and looks.

Yahoo clubs and egroups are merging. This is something that some
people are going to like, and that others aren't going ot like.

Unfortunately I do not know very much about it, but will try and
answer any questions I can if your concerned or worried. In the mean
time, here is a great page that you should read and learn more about
this so that your not all confused when it does happen. Hopefully the
transition will be easy and not too confusing. Please take the time
to check it out.

http://www.wins.ch/valerie/yahooclubs/tocmerge.html

I have already set up an egroups with our club name on it. I did this
a long time ago, but never felt it necessary to share it with you,
until now. So, I would like you to go to:

(Here i put the url for egroups, and the club egroup)

If you join now, you can get a feel for the egroups setting. Please
feel free to contact me at (My email here) if you are concerned,
worried, nervous, or just have questions about the merger, the club
or
egroups.

Remember, eventually the club, and egroup will be one!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and learn.

Yours in Guiding

Mistybunny

hello all
In one of the clubs I am a co-founder of, I have been designated
the Yahoo/eGroups expert because of my experience with clubs like
this. I have come across an interesting point in my readings. When
the merge happens people using eGroups who do not have a Yahoo
nickname will need one to access all the features of Yahoo Groups. My
suggestion to you is to get a Yahoo nickname now to avoid the rush,
because a lot of the popular combinations will be used up quickly.

I heartily agree, Roger.  While people who prefer to use Yahoo! Groups as an e-mail subscription service only will be able to continue doing so, they will not be able to access the full range of services within clubs using e-mail alone.  Acquiring a Yahoo! ID is fast and easy.  You need not use the free e-mail account that comes with it or register for the 20 meg of homepage space that is out there waiting for you in Geocities with your new ID name attached to it.  However, you will need it to look at photo albums, news, and group calendars, to use the chat forum and polls, and to access other features that are only accessible by going to the clubsite (groupsite).  Plus, having a Yahoo! ID allows you personal profile space so that you can introduce yourself to others, post a picture of yourself, upload a sound file of your own voice--or just have fun messing with other people's head about who you really are.  Last but not least, if you do choose to use the Yahoo! e-mail, you can use it to filter mail you would rather not have clutter your ISP (Internet Service Provider) account.  You choose whether to forward all or forward selectively or forward none.  It's up to you.  It really is a good idea to register for a Yahoo! ID and probably a better one to do it right away.

this is just something I came up with myself. A lot of virus's send
themselves to everyone in your address book. So here's my idea. Open
your address book and do whatever you need to create/add a new
person/contact. Make the display name ***VIRUS*** or whatever you
want to make it stand out and make the email address your own then
click ok. If at some time in the future you get mail with the return
address ***VIRUS*** chances are that you have a problem. Consider it
a type of self check.
