Superstrut is standard equipment on AE111 BZ-Rs and was an option on other models. Cars fitted with Superstrut also have twin piston front calipers (see next page).
The above picture shows all the associated parts of the AE111 Superstrut suspension. A similar system is also fitted to ST205 GT-4 Celicas / Currens and a few other performance Toyotas.
The system means that during cornering the strut does not turn. The reasoning behind this is to remove the associated camber and castor changes that occur with a standard macpherson strut when cornering. It is quite a complex system and can be costly to maintain but makes for an impressive handling car.
