Vampires
Angel / Angelus - As Angelus he was one of the most cunning and ruthless vampires ever, prone to torture and torment his victims before killing or siring them. Along with Darla, and later Spike and Drusilla, they terrorized Europe throughout the 19th century. The vampire clan was hunted by the soldier Holtz, who's family had been a victim of Angel and Darla. Finally, Angel was cursed with a soul by a gypsy tribe in order that he feel the pain and guilt from all the deaths he had caused over the preceding decades.
As Angel he spent many years in suffering and torment over his victims. Punishing himself for what he was. Finally, in recent years, he was approached by the demon Whistler who told him of the new slayer and placed him on a path as her protector.
Anointed One - A vampire prophesized to arise and hold a pivotal role in the death of the slayer as well as in the freeing of the Master from his underground prison.
Darla - A former prostitute from colonial American times who was sired by the Master. She served the Master for many years before siring Angelus and later running off with him. Together they terrified Europe in the 19th century and were joined by Drusilla and later Spike. When Angelus was cursed she cast him away, disgusted with his newly reacquired soul. Eventually she returned to serve the Master and was staked during a battle with Angel and Buffy.
A few years later she was resurrected in human form by Wolfram & Hart in a plot to turn Angel further towards the side of darkness. When they restored her in mortal form, however, she also retained the disease that had been killing her centuries before. Finally unable to find a way to cure her she was again made into a vampire by Drusilla.
Dracula - The legendary vampire was recently discovered to really exist and was more than a match for Buffy.
Drusilla - A precognitive but insane vampire that was driven mad by her ability to see the future and by having her family tortured and killed by Angelus. She was finally made into a vampire by Angelus and joined with him and Darla, she eventually sired the brutal vampire Spike.
Drusilla was physically injured in Prague, which left her weak. Spike took care of her and brought her to Sunnydale where they captured Angel and used him to heal her. After Spike was injured and the evil Angelus restored, they set upon a plan to use an ancient demon to destroy the world.
The Master - A centuries old vampire who sired the vampire Darla when North America was first being colonized. He has given up the trappings of humanity and face has become bat-like in appearance. A century ago, when attempting to open the Hellmouth, he became stuck within a prison of energy underground.
Spike / William the Bloody / William the Bloody Awful Poet - Also known as William the Bloody or William the Bloody Awful Poet. As a human Spike was an extremely awkward, insecure and none-too-talented poet. After having been rejected by the woman he was infatuated with William was sired by the vampire Drusilla. As the vampire Spike he became a savage and violent killer without the finesse of Angelus or Darla. Spike preferred bloodbaths and killing vampire slayers. Spike, in fact, killed teo slayers, one during the Chinese Boxer Rebellion at the turn of the 20th century and the other in New York in the 1970s.
Spike spent a couple of years devising ill-conceived plots to destroy the slayer. Finally he was captured by a secret government organization that implanted a chip in his brain. The chip shocks his neural pathways anytime he attempts to harm a human victim.
Mr. Trick - A sort of vampire for hire that was employed by the Mayor in his plans to bring about the Ascension. Mr. Trick was eventually slain by the rogue slayer Faith who soon after took his place working for the Mayor.
Demons
Adam - A half human, half demon, partially cybernetic creature developed in secret by the government agency, the Initiative. Upon awakening to life he slew his creator and set out to conduct experiments on both human and demon victims. Adam was an incredibly powerful enemy.
Anyanka / Anya - Once, long ago, Anya was spurned by the man that she loved and she became the vengeance demon Anyanka. As a vengeance demon she granted whatever wish for revenge a woman could think up. Her pendant which gave her her power was destroyed and she became mortal again. She also has an irrational fear of bunnies.
Billy - A partly demonic but seemingly human villain that is able to infect men with a blinding rage towards women, Using the men to carry out his obsessive hatred he feels towards his female victims. Angel was blackmailed into freeing Billy from his fiery prison by Wolfram & Hart.
Clem -
Doc - A demonic creature that lives in the town of Sunnydale who helped Dawn after the death of her mother. Doc is actually a demonic creature with a hidden agenda of his own.
Eyghon - A sleepwalker demon that possesses its victim and lives inside of their bodies while they sleep before finally burning out it's host and moving to a new sleeping of unconscious body. Giles awakened the demon years before during his youth while he and his friends experimented with black magic and the occult.
Glory / Glorificus - A demon goddess who ruled another dimension before being thrown out and into our reality. She came to Earth searching for the key that will unlock the barriers between realities allowing her to return but unleashing hell on earth until the doorway is once again closed.
Groosalugg - A half demon warrior champion from another dimension that is that world's greatest warrior. After being chosen to mate with the newly appointed princess Grooslugg is made temporary ruler of the land until forced out by political reforms. He then journeyed to our dimension in search of Cordelia.
The Host / Lorne / Krevlornswath of the Deathwalk Clan - A demon from a parallel dimension, Krevlornswath of the Deathwalk Clan didn't fit in with his fellow demons there. Eventually he fell into a portal and landed on Earth where he became the owner and host of Caritas, a demon karaoke bar. After Caritas was destroyed partially and then totally he eventually went to Vegas to become a lounge singer.
Halfrek - A fellow demon and sibling to Anyanka. Halfrek also has the powers to grant wishes to those in need of her help.
Mayor Wilkins - A human who later became transformed into pure demon form. The Mayor had fashioned plans to bring about his ascension to pure demon and in the process destroy all of the students at Sunnydale High.
SahJahn - A demon from a future timeline, SahJahn is a future adversary of Angel's son Connor and came back through time to set a plan in motion that would destroy his enemy as a child. Sort of a demonic Terminator situation added to the fact that the son is called Connor.
Skip - A demon that fights on the side of good. Skip was entrusted with guarding the partially demonic Billy who was held inside a prison Later he was sent by the powers that be and ended up offering Cordelia a chance to become partly demon to control her visions.
Witches & Warlocks
Jonathan Levinson - The frequently ridiculed little geeky student from Sunnydale High. Jonathan, after trying to take his own life the year before, summoned a demon to alter reality and make himself popular and a hero. After studying the black arts, two years later he joined with fellow nerds Warren & Andrew to become criminal masterminds.
Tara Maclay - A shy young girl who became close friends and eventual lover to Willow. Tara and Willow worked together learning witchcraft but Tara began to grow worried as Willow's powers became stronger and more dangerous. As Willow started using her powers more frivolously Tara confronted Willow about it but Willow cast a spell to make Tara forget the argument. When Tara discovered what Willow had done to her the two broke up. They got back together several months later but Tara would soon meet her fate when Warren came to Buffy's house to get revenge and Tara ended up paying the price.
Amy Madison - A classmate of Willow's and a fellow witch, following in her mother's footsteps. After her mother was defeated and turned into a cheerleading trophy, Amy began researching her spell books and learning magic on her own. After botching a spell she planned for Xander that ended up making him irritable to all women Amy ended up locked into the form of a rat for a couple of years until Willow was able to restore her. Willow & Amy soon began experimenting with dark magic until Willow warned Amy to stay away from her and stop tempting her with magic.
Catherine Madison - Amy's mother and a former champion cheerleader in her younger days. Catherine Madison became disgusted with her daughter wasting her youth by sitting around eating all day so she switched places with her daughter and tried out for the cheerleading squad. At the same time casting spells to sabotage the other potential cheerleaders so that she could make the team. Eventually the two were switched back and Catherine Madison became trapped in the form of her own cheerleading trophy.
Rack - A sort of drug dealer for the black magic set. Rack deals out powerful magical powers that affect the user for longer periods of time. But a high price is paid to all that become hooked on the rush of power.
Ethan Rayne - A fellow warlock and associate of Giles in their youth. The two were part of a group that experimented with the occult and created havoc. Giles outgrew those wild reckless days but Ethan still shows up and stirs up trouble from time to time.
Andrew Wells - He and his brother have caused trouble from time to time whether it was flying monkeys or devil dogs. Andrew eventually joined with two other nerds to become crime lords of Sunnydale but their plans backfired as Warren became more unstable. Andrew though began to be drawn toward Warren, as his Klingon love poems imply.
Assorted Monsters
Ampata/Inca Mummy Girl - After the seal entrapping her was broken, Ampata regained her youthful form after draining the life energy from her victims. She soon became attracted to Xander and Buffy must stop her before she drains Xander's energy as well.
Buffybot - After Warren created a realistic robot called April to serve as his girlfriend. The nerdy loser is forced by Spike to create a robot resembling Buffy. The robot is later used by Buffy and the Scooby Gang a few times in various situations when it was needed.
Order of Taraka - A group of supernatural bounty hunters hired by Spike and Drusilla to attack Buffy. The group included, among other creatures, a being made of flesh eating worms that targeted Cordelia and Xander.
Oz - A former member of the Scooby Gang. Oz was bitten by his young cousin Jordie and soon after became a werewolf himself. On every full moon Oz had to restrain himself in a cage since his animal instincts were uncontrollable. He eventually learned to control the change but the change was still effected by his emotional condition.
