In the trauma room…

Kelly just stopped and stared.  “Wow, he’s beautiful.” She whispered under her breath. “This is why I am a doctor.  To treat injured people like this.”  She walked quietly towards his bed and picked up his chart, talking to herself, “Mr. Kevin Richardson. Nice name.”  She placed the chart down and gently lifted the sheet off of Kevin.  She looked at his chest and took another deep breath. “Beautiful.”  She looked farther down.  He had a huge gash across his stomach.  She looked back up and saw that there was another one of his shoulder blade. “Dang. You’re really messed up.”  His eyes slowly opened. “Messed up, huh?” he said.  “Oh. I’m sorry to wake you. Hi, Mr. Richardson. My name is Dr. Kelly Riley.  I’m your doctor.  You’re here in the New York County Hospital.  You’ve got a bad bump on your head and a couple of bad gashes, but you’ll live I think. Can you stay awake so that I can stitch you up?”  Kelly asked.  Kevin turned his head so that he could see his doctor better.  His voice was raspy, but understandable.  “Thanks for takin’ good care of me. I’m sorry if I doze off.  I don’t mean to be rude. I’m pretty sleepy.” Kevin said. Kelly noticed his accent.  It sounded like he was from the south. She though it was sexy.  “Man I have all the luck,” she said to herself.  She cleared her head and said, “You’re drowsy because of your concussion.  Can you prop yourself up so that I can see the cuts better?”  Kevin sat up slowly, wincing.  “Thanks, that’s fine. The IV drip in your arm should make it so that you don’t feel any pain while I stitch you up. You can doze or keep me company. All these stitches might take awhile.”  Kevin looked at her secretly while she talked.  “She’s so beautiful.  I love her accent.  She reminds me of home,” he thought.  He watched as Dr. Riley prepared the suture tray.  “She’s so skinny.  She looks like a model.”  As Kelly prepared the tray she felt Kevin’s eyes on her back. She hoped that he liked what he saw.  She turned around and spoke again.  Kevin flicked his eyes to the other side of the room.  “Now that you’re awake and not going to die I think that I should go tell your friends your status. Give me a few minutes and I’ll be right back to sew you up.”  She started to walk out the door.

Kevin smiled to himself.  “Now, that’s a girl that would suit me fine.  Beautiful, athletic.  A doctor. She almost looks like Kristin.”  Kevin shook his head at the memories of that name. “Kristin,” he mumbled. “Sorry, I couldn’t hear you.  What did you say?” Kelly asked as she opened the door of his room to leave. “Oh, just that I was chillin.”  He said to himself, “I hope she didn’t hear the name Kristin.”  That relationship had ended a few months ago.  It turned out to be good that it had.  Kevin had his heart broken a second time.  He was going to ask Kristin to marry him and then he found that cheated on him. “Better too late than never. Maybe this girl is finally someone that will be good for me.”  Kevin closed his eyes and dozed off thinking of his doctor.

As Kelly was walking she couldn’t keep her mind off of Kevin.  “He’s so beautiful and sexy.  I love his voice.  He almost makes me cry he’s so polite.  Maybe there is a guy around here for me still.  I’m sure he’s got a girlfriend though.”  Kelly kept walking.

Meanwhile, in the lobby…

In the waiting lounge the rest of the boys sat quietly.  Each of them ran what had just happened through their heads.  No one could believe that Kevin might actually be really hurt. He was so strong.  What would they do without him?  Nobody spoke.  Just then, Nick softly tapped Brian on the arm.  “Not now Nick.” Nick tapped again. “What!!!,” Brian yelled.  “Look at this doctor coming in the room.  She’s a hottie.”  Brian looked up, “Damn, you’re right Nick.”  All the boys seemed to notice Kelly at the same time. As she entered the room she called out, “Who is the party waiting on Mr. Richardson?”  All the boys jumped up and yelled, “We are.”  Kelly walked over and looked at the four guys. “You are all waiting for him? Well, whatever.  My name is Dr. Kelly Riley.  I’m Kevin’s doctor.  He’s got a bad concussion and two bad gashes, but other than that he should be just fine.  What are you guys, his brothers or something?” All the guys took a breath and smiled.  “Thanks for saving him doctor.  He’s a big part of our lives.  Without him, we’re kind of lost,” Brian said.  Kelly said, “I didn’t do much to save him.  I just have to stitch him up.”  “Still. You helped him. I guess we should introduce ourselves.”
“I’m Brian Littrell.  And this is Nick carter,” he pointed to a cute blond, “That’s AJ Mclean over there in the tattoo’s.  And this is Howie Dorough. Call him D though. We all do.”  Kelly smiled, “So I take it you’re not his brothers, so what are you?” Nick spoke up, “You really don’t recognize us at all?”  “Nope, sorry. I have I treated you here before?” Kelly asked.  At the same time they all said, “We’re the…” and then all of them quieted down.  People were beginning to look at them.  Brian answered quietly, closer to Kelly’s ear.  He motioned her closer. “We’re the Backstreet Boys!  We’re here in New York for two shows next week.  Haven’t you heard?”  Kelly looked up and looked at the guys, “Sorry, guys for not recognizing you.  I really don’t know much about you, and yes I heard you were in town.  It was on the radio last night. And you were on ESPN last night, I saw you on the Wildcat’s game.”  Howie spoke up, “Yeah, we were there last night. Are you coming to a concert?  If you need tickets we can get them for you.”  Kelly blushed, “Thanks Howie.  Howie right? But I think that I will probably be right here next week.  Thanks for the offer though.”  “Well, thank you again. We need Kevin.  He has a show on Monday and Tuesday and then on Wednesday he’s going to be in a modeling show.  He needs to get better and thanks to you he will.”  Kelly blushed again at the remarks of the sweet guy, “Look, I have got to go and stitch your fifth member up, so I’ll see you around maybe.  It was nice meeting y’all.  Good luck with your shows.  I’ll have a nurse come out to get you when Kevin is ready. Bye.”

The guys watched as Kelly walked off.  AJ broke the silence, “Damn, what a hottie.  I can’t believe she said no to your offer D.  Why in the world would she do that?  I mean, anybody would kill for the chance to see us.”  Brian laughed and looked at AJ, “Maybe she told you the truth and she really is working here at the hospital.  At least Kevin is all right.  That’s good, but you know what.  That doctor Riley sure looks an awful lot like Kev’s ex Kristin, huh?  She even has a southern accent.  I hope he doesn’t wake up and freak out and think she’s following him.” Nick cracked up laughing, “Knowing Kev, he’ll probably bust the moves on the doc.”  Howie said quietly to himself, “Knowing Kev, he’ll probably be as shy as ever,” then he said out loud, “Somebody call Fatima.”
