The next day, Tuesday December 8, Kelly’s apartment… It was four o’clock already and Madison was getting worried. She had left the last dress rehearsal for her show early just so she could come home and get dinner ready. As the spaghetti was cooking on the stove, she ran upstairs to pick out outfits for the concert. She wanted Kelly to look just perfect for Kevin tonight, and she wanted herself to look good for Brian. Madison remembered that the guys said they were going partying after the concert so the girls would need something nice. Madison finally decided that the strapless cocktails dresses that they had just bought for dinner with Austin would be perfect. She set the black dress out for Kelly with her Chinese sandals and the diamond choker and bracelet set. “Perfect. She’ll look beautiful.” Madison took the outfit downstairs and laid it out on Kelly’s bed. The buzzer went off on the stove and Madison hurriedly went back to the kitchen. It was 4:30 and Madison still had not heard from Kelly. “If Kelly messes up this night, she’ll mess her whole life up. Come on girl.” Madison set the table and made a salad. She began thinking about the last week she’d been in New York with Kelly and realized that she’d only seen Kelly eat a full meal one time. “Every night I’ve made dinner and somehow she never eats it.” Madison was worried that something really bad was going to happen to Kelly if she didn’t get her act together and start eating again. Madison made lemon water and got everything ready on the table. She kept the plates of spaghetti warm in the oven and went into the pantry and got Riley’s food bowl filled up. She put the bowl down on the floor and Riley immediately started eating. In minutes he was done. Madison smiled and decided that she had enough time to go take a shower. She ran upstairs to her room and took a long warm shower. She used fragrance shampoos and lotions to make her smell good. When she was done she wrapped herself up in a towel and went to her bed to lie down for a second. The sound of the phone ringing, woke Madison up with a start. She groggily picked up the phone and answered, “Hello?” A deep voice at the other end of the line spoke, “The first time I visited your friend’s house, I didn’t do much, but now that things are changing again, it might be time to pay a little visit to do a little more redecorating. The place was such a mess last time I left. Just be sure you lock all of those locks on those doors each night. You never know when I might stop by. Later.” The sound of the dial tone rung in Madison’s ear. “Oh my god. My god, my god, my god. What am I going to do? I can’t tell Kelly, but I have to tell Kelly, but if I do she’ll freak out and get even worse than she is now. I’ll call the police and tell them. Oh, what are they going to do? They can’t trace the call now. Oh no! Oh god!” She placed the phone slowly back on the receiver and decided to tell Brian after the concert and ask him what they should do. Feeling better she got up and realized that she had fallen asleep in her towel. It was 5:30 and there was only an hour till the limo would arrive. Madison got into some sweat pants and t-shirt and ran downstairs. Kelly wasn’t there yet. Madison ran to the kitchen and smelled something burning. “Damn. I left the plates of food in the stove.” She opened the stove and smoke came pouring out. “Great, I don’t have time to make dinner again.” As she was dumping the burnt spaghetti in the trash she heard the front door close. Madison called out just to make sure it was Kelly. “Ri? Is that you?” Kelly appeared around the corner and looked at Madison strangely. “Madison, who else would it be?” Madison smiled and hugged Kelly. “Oh, just checking. But enough questions to me. Where the heck have you been? Why are you so late?” Kelly sat down at the table, and answered quietly. “I’m sorry girl. I tried to be on time. Austin and I had a big discussion and he left all mad earlier today. I think he wants us back together, but I don’t like him that way any more. And then we had a gang fight come in. Two brothers died. I couldn’t save them. I tried Madison. I really did.” Madison looked with complete pride at her best friend. “You did the best you could. It was all you could do. It was their time to go. Let them rest. I’m sorry for biting your head off about being late.” Kelly smiled, “Thanks Madi. I’m really late though because I went tanning after work. I hadn’t been in a week and it just felt good to be warm. It’s so cold and snowy this week. I’m sorry again. Okay, you’re the leader of this night. What’s up?” Madison rubbed her hands together and started, “Well, seeing as I just burned our dinner we’re not eating tonight, which is okay because we’re going to be late anyways. I set your outfit out so go take a fast shower and get ready. You got to look really good, but don’t take your time because it’s 5:45 now and we have to be downstairs waiting in the driveway by 6:25. Now hurry.” Madison smiled and pulled Kelly out of the chair. She pushed her towards the bedrooms and quickly got them started. As Kelly and Riley were walking into Kelly’s bathroom, Kelly called out to Madison just as Madison started up the staircase. She spoke up, “Madison. I just want you to know that even though I don’t always show it, I love you to death. You’re the most I have after my parents and Riley.” Kelly blushed and closed her bathroom door. Madison wiped a tear away, looked once more at her friend’s closed bathroom door, and made her way into her room to get ready for their night. Same day, at the BSB’s hotel, 5:30… The boys were rushing around getting their bags ready for after the concert. They all picked out nice clothes for clubbing. Everyone met in Kevin’s room around 5:30. Kevin sat them down to have a talk with them. Nick and AJ were the last ones to straggle in. The rest of guys hadn’t seen the two of them since last night. They looked tired but not tired enough to start cracking jokes the second they sat down on the couch. Kevin raised is voice, “Enough you two. Sorry to be a beast, but listen up. Tonight I want us to be perfect and you all know why. Kelly and Madison will be there and it’s just got to be perfect. Please? You guys sure you don’t mind that were going out with them after the concert? Brian and I could just go.” Nick laughed at Kevin’s comments, “You think I mind being seen with two hotties, especially one who’s a famous model. Hell no. We’re going to have a great time tonight.” Brian hit Nick on the back of the head, “Hey man. She’s my woman.” Howie spoke up next, “All right. Enough talk. We got to get going or we’re going to be late. Think about last night. Good lord, we almost got mobbed by all those girls ‘cause we were late.” All the guys agreed and got their stuff and walked down to their cars. None of the fans knew that they had driven their own cars, so it was safe for them to drive themselves. Brian and Nick and Kevin got in Kevin’s car and Howie and AJ in AJ’s car. They drove away from the hotel without being spotted and were safely on the highway towards the stadium. “Brian, can you dial the limo guy’s number for me? I just want to check that everything is set up for tonight still.” Brian picked up the phone and dialed the number. He checked to make sure it was ringing and then handed the phone to Kevin. “Hi, yeah it’s Kevin. How are you? I’m great. I was just calling to make sure that everything is still on for tonight. It is? Good. Did you remember the roses in the limo? Okay, um, can you make sure to call Donna, what? Oh, yeah, Donna’s our manager. You have the number. Anyways, can you call her and tell her to reserve the two box seats at the stadium? Can you put some flowers in there too please? Great, thanks so much.” Kevin hung up the cell phone and turned to Brian. “Everything is still on. It will be perfect.” Brian and Kevin smiled and continued onto the stadium. Nick was in the back rolling his eyes at his friends who were slowly falling for these two girls they hardly knew. |
