Scene Five

Howie sat on the balcony of his hotel room looking out over the crowded beach. He had debated going back to their little beach, but in the end he decided against it. He didn't really want to be there without Rowena. For the hundredth time in the last half hour he wondered if she would react to the contents of the envelope he had given her. Suddenly his call phone rang and he picked it up, his heartbeat racing.

"So, are you going to tell me where I can send you copies of those pictures we took?"

He could hear the smile in her voice and closed his eyes happily.

Rowena stood at a phone booth at the airport, holding his note. She looked down at the pink shells in her hand, just like the ones she had bought for her niece.

"Sure. But why don't you come round for dinner when they're developed?"

"Sounds good to me and I'll be sure to wear your necklace. Thanks for that."

He grinned. "You should always listen to advice from your elders, didn't you know that?"

She laughed, then stopped suddenly listening for something.

"They just called out my flight. I'll see you back in Orlando?"

"I'll be back in a week, so give me a call then. Oh, and don't forget to tell me if you have problems with Angela!"

"I told you I'd take you up on that one." Rowena laughed.

"See you in a week different."

"Different?"

"I'll tell you all about that over dinner. Now go catch your flight."

"See you in a week sexy."

She hung up and walked to the gate smiling.

"End part one," they thought.
