Life is slowly and surely getting back to normal. Not quite there yet. But at least I can kinda see the light at the end of the tunnel. Which makes everything else not so bad. Plus the fact I was able to get away for a couple of days really helped. Shawn and I escaped to Anchorage over the Labor day weekend. Had a marvellous time. Picked up Katie who had just moved down there and spent the day dragging her around with us. We had fun. It was still kinda early by the time we got down there. So we went exploring. Ended up walking along the beach by the airport. Well if can call miles of drift wood, rocks and steep cliffs a beach. It was an absolutely beautiful morning out all the same. And because of the cliffs it was just the three of us and the occasional low flying plane =) It's amazing what washes up on shore, we found some of the weirdest stuff. Shawn (being the pseudo photographer that he is) actually took a couple of interesting photos of some of the flotsam and jetsam we found. I hope the pics turn out. For (a bit of good news) during the whole computer/office room destruction thing we found the start up disc for the scanner. So as soon as everything is back to normal. I'll be scanning pics again. That little fact makes me happy to no end. I was almost at the point of running out and buying a whole new scanner. Anyways, did alot ALOT of shopping. Which is the main reason we went down there. To buy school clothes for Lauren. But I did actually get myself a couple of things as well. Like a really cute Eeyore sweat shirt from the Disney shop. I love Eeyore he's my favorite. After shopping we caught up with our good buddie Shane and the four of us went out to eat. They all had ribs. I've never been able to bring myself to chew on bones. Actually I have more then a few meat related issues...lol, don't even get me started on touching raw meat, mystery meat, fat ect. Ok ok so I'm a big wimp. (But I will admit that the ribs smelt SO good) Anyways it's always been chicken beast and boneless steaks for this picky girl. So I instead sharing their ribs had the yummiest buffalo chicken salad. After dinner we did the midnight/neon bowling thing. Which is always a blast. Even if I lost every game we played. I'm not the greatest bowler...lol. But I am ambidextrous, so I can bowl with both hands. Not that it does me alot of good since they both hook badly in the opposite direction. I am however the only one who wasn't sore in the arm/elbow the next morning...hee-hee-hee. So my sucky bowling style is at least good for something. Shawn and I stayed in the same hotel we stayed at last time we were down there. It's nice enough, but we were too tired from a day of walking/driving ect. to get to wild and crazy. Even though when we got in the window had been left open. And the idea of making love out our 5 story window did cross our minds. =) Thinking about that of a sec, wouldn't it be grand. With the sounds of our love making echoing out across the darkness. (evil little grin)Oh well, something else to add to my sexual wish list....lol The four of us went to the Palmer fair the next morning. Had blooming onion for breakfast. Very greasy and oh so good. The Palmer fair is like twenty times better then the dinky one we host. This is the third year in a row we've gone. It's starting to become some sort of tradition. Anyways after the fair we said goodbye to Shane and headed home. Katie needed to come back into town so she rode back with us. It was nice to have her company on the long ride home. Even if I think some of Shawn's 100+ mph driving had her whit knuckling it in the backseat a couple of times. =) I had such a good time. Just when I needed it. Life has a way of always working out that way. What a lucky girl I am..... |
