The Blue & Grey is a Living History club, who's main interest is in American history
from 1840 to 1890, with special emphasis on the American Civil War. The club has
been operating since 1993. The Club first started with 3 members and now has grown to be a large club with members in several states of Australia.
The Club attempts to re-create the era, share knowledge,
and better understand
the lifestyle of this period by way of:
The Blue & the Grey allows members to
portray either Union, Confederate or State
Militia units of their choice. And to help members develop their knowledge & research
of their Military Soldier portrayal, the club holds several camps a year where School of the soldier, Drill manual and safety training is undertaken.
The Blue & the Grey also regularly takes part In the Taminick Military weekend held every October where black powder military re-enactment groups get together and compete against each other in Shooting, Foot drill and Encampment Living History display competitions.

For this type of re-enactment, members must have a re-enactment/shooters gun license as required by Australian State laws (Please check with your state Law requirements)
or contact the Blue and Grey for advise.

Leather soles shoes and clothing of a authentic historical pattern and fabric are required by all members

Women who wish to undertake a male soldier portrayal must be able to pass for a man in appearance when in uniform.
Women may wish to to portray a female civilian state militia soldier in the Nancy Harts
unit (see links for more information).
