COMPANY B 2ND BATTALION (ASSAULT) 224TH AVIATION

CAMP

29 August 2001

The first elements of B Co are leading TF Pegasus into  today! Our Advance Party has successfully completed its post mobilization requirements and we are on the way to the  as I write this newsletter.

There have been many mixed emotions over the last couple of weeks. They have ranged from the sadness of leaving our loved ones to the excitement of finally getting on with the mission that we have been preparing for during the last 15 months.

Our post mobilization requirements included the normal processing necessary to bring National Guard soldiers onto Active Duty, as well as going to the range (again!), conducting US Army Europe Driver’s Testing, and negotiating a combat hand grenade range.

All of the training was successfully completed although it was rather entertaining watching CW4 Steve "Have I told how I threw the pin instead of the grenade in Basic Training" Tuck and CW4 Sam "Have I told you how much I do for you!?!" Gugliotta running through the woods throwing training grenades at plastic soldiers.

After seeing some of the results of the driver’s testing (CW3 Delmar "That’s OK, I can just keep re-testing" Kidd and CW3 John "You can’t make me take this test" Anderson), I realize that there are drivers out there as bad as I am. Much to SGT Rocky "Do I have to drive the bus again!?!" Dela Pena’s dismay, he is STILL the only Beast qualified to drive a bus!

All of us want to say how much we already miss our family and friends! We will be in touch as soon as we can. Please leave us messages from home in the guest book. It will brighten your soldier’s day to know that you are thinking of him. Also, to SPC Buzz "Medicine, I don’t need no stinking medicine!" Hagen…we are waiting on you to get here! Get well so you can catch the next flight!! (We need a shop steward!!)

We’ll talk to you soon!

Until then, God bless America.

Sincerely,
