We purchased our first Boxer in 1986 for a family pet. Roxy was a plain fawn bitch and we fell in love with her and the breed. A couple of years later we decided that Roxy needed company and purchased a show bitch this time. Amber came to us from Glenn and Zona Grupe of Glennroe Boxers. She turned out to be an excellent show dog and went beyond our dreams. Amber truly is the foundation of all we have accomplished at Bayview Boxers. Amber earned her championship handled by her breeder and co-owner Zona Grupe. Ch. Glennroe Tequila Sunrise, Dom, went on to be a Special and finished in the Top 20 of Boxers in the U.S. for 1992. Amber retired from showing, she then proved herself in the whelping box. She went on to produce 7 champions, one of which was Ch. Bayview Strides Ahead, som, "Strider".
Strider was whelped at home from Amber’s second litter. Strider’s sire was Ch. Bridgewood’s B.K. Kahuna, som, lom and he was our pick of the litter. He matured into a beautiful dog earning his championship in style by finishing at the American Boxer Club Regional. Strider was a Special for 2 years, qualifying for the Top 20 both years. During this time he began to be used as a stud dog and there he proved that he could pass on many of his strong traits. Strider became a Sire of Merit at the age of 4 &1\2 years. In 2004 of Stirder's get 34 have become U.S. Champions. Of special note is that he has sired one Winners Dog, which Bayview bred, of the American Boxer Club Specialty and two Winners Bitch. In 2003 two of his get qualified for the Top 20. There are several other dogs that are near finishing their championship and other promising new pups that will start showing in 2004.
Over the years there have been many memorable wins but 2003 will be a year we will not forget for a long time. Two additions were made to our family in 2002 from our breeding and they began their show careers in January 2003. First came Monroe, now Ch. Bayview Some Like It Hot, a Strider Daughter. She was hot, taking Winners Bitch at her very first show in January at 6 months of age, owner handled. She won both her Majors at Boxer Club Specialties and finished at 15 months old. Watch out in 2004 when Monroe heads out as a Special. A few weeks later came Vader, Ch. Bayview Strikes Again, a Strider grandson and a brindle. Not to be outdone by Monroe, Vader took his first major at 9 months old and at 10 months he became the American Boxer Club Grand Futurity Winner. Vader won two more majors at Boxer Club Specialties and finished at 15 months old. To finish the year off Strider sired some beautiful litters and we have some great hopefuls for 2004.
Bayview dogs have done great in the show ring but what are of proud of is the great companions they are to our family. Over the years we are always happy to hear that people are so happy with the dogs they have gotten from us and what a great addition to their family they have become. We always strive to breed the best dogs we can for the show ring and to be a beautiful loving companion to all. Bayview Boxers could not done all that we have accomplished without the help from our son, Justin.
