an informal introduction | the strategy based on the power hypothesis

hypothesis

an informal introduction

- what is your objective?
destroy the enemy's buildings
- how can you do it?
by attacking.
- why don't you attack using your pre-placed drones/probes/scvs?
'cause the enemy would kill'em all.
- why should the enemy kill'em all?
because he don't want me to win
- why would you lose the battle against your enemy?
'cause in the time I was in his base he had more and more powerful units than I had.
- why don't you concentrate on buildings and ignore the enemy's defence?
'cause it takes too much time to destroy buildings. If I had an army capable of resisting to the enemy's fire until all buildings were destroyed, I would surely be able to destroy the enemy's army.
- therefore?
I try to get a more powerful army until I can beat his one.

it is a quest for power.
you must get more resources
you must get more supply
you must get more factories
you must get more units
you must get more upgrades
then you get more power
you must know your enemy's power
you must know your enemy's knowledge
then you get more power
you must use your units in the right moment
you must use your units in the right place
you must use your units in the right way
then you get more power

the strategy based on the power hypothesis | up

What is power? Power is a number. Here we refer to the warpower (wp) value of an army: this value is relative to the target attacked by that army, but it does not depend on parameters like formations or micro-combat techniques. Basically, the winner of a match is the player which is able to gain a "great" power advantage over the enemy and, aware of this (good reconnaissance), attacks his enemy. How great? It depends on a precise value, that is the warpower speed (wps) of his enemy. The greater is this value, the greater should be the power advantage needed by the player to defeat his enemy. Who will reach that advantage first? Basically, the player with the highest wps (best economy management) or the player which uses his army most effectively, slowing the enemy's wps or directly destroying wp (best war management).

- How can I get knowledge of my enemy strategy?
If you scout the map you will be able to plan your economy and your war.
You will need particular units and techniques in order to acheive an effective scouting.
If you are able to prevent your enemy to spy you, you will acheive warpower advantage.
Reconnaissance is the part of the strategy which deals with the art of spying.

- How can I get an higher warpower speed?
Each unit you train is added to your total warpower amount.
If you produce more units in a taken amount of time, you get an higher wps.
Obviously you will need an higher exctraction ratio, more factories and more supply in order to produce more units in a taken amount of time.
If you get an upgrade the warpower of all your units and those you are going to train will be higher.
Economy is the part of the strategy which deals with the resources, the supply and the factories, in order to get an higher units training ratio.

- How can I slow down my enemy's warpower speed?
If you target enemy's resource camps, supply, factories and other buildings you will slow down enemy's power rush.
If you control your territory with skill you could prevent enemy's expansions.
- How can I destroy my enemy's warpower?
If you produce units which are more effective against the units currently owned by your enemy, you increase your total warpower.
If you move your units to certain locations you can stop enemy's strategies and make his attacks less effective than yours.
If you use combat techniques you can make your enemy's attacks less effective than yours.
War is the part of the strategy which deals with territory control, attack planning and combat skills.

- How can I be quicker than my enemy?
Using the right mouse properly.
Keyboard shortcuts.
Hot Keys planning and using.
Attention planning.
Driving is the part of the strategy which deals with the optimization of the user interface and of control techniques.

- What does all those terms mean exactly?
A StarCraft mathematic model.
Lexicon.
Semantics is the part of the strategy which deals with the game inner mechanisms and the general lexicon of this guide.
