"The church of St Catherine is mainly of 14th and 15th Century date but includes earlier Norman stonework. The font is Perpendicular and monuments, mostly in the north transept, which was the Phelips chapel, are to15th and 16th Century members of the Phelips family. Sir Edward Phelips was Speaker of the House of Commons and Master of the Rolls under James I."

Francis LONG m. John DENMAN and daughter Elizabeth WILTON( nee DENMAN)  and her maternal grandparents parents.

"First mentioned in 1179, this large, spacious church is of 12th century origin but was destroyed by fire and rebuilt, probably about 1232. It is built in local blue lias stone with Ham stone dressings and has a particularly magnificent example of the
