Captain William LANGDON, b.6 Nov 1790 son of vicar
of Montacute the Rev William LANGDON. Married 1845 Ann CHAFFEY (b
probably Montacute c1818). After a naval career William was invalided out and
commenced operating merchant ships to New South Wales and Van Diemand's Land.
William & Ann settled near Bothwell in Tasmania in 1823 and created an
estate they called Montacute (still there). Many current descendants in
Tasmania and elsewhere, including my f-in-law. |
