General Questions About Asking Us Questions

Q: Can I ask you anything I want? Do I have to use my real name?
A: Yes (qualified) and no. You can ask us any question you really want an answer to. Please don't waste our time, though by being silly. We have way too much to do! Although we'd like to address you properly, if you'd like or don't mind having your answer posted here, you can advise us to post a pseudonym for you. We like posting answers here because it saves people from having to ask the same questions repeatedly (and us having to answer them repeatedly!)

Questions About This Website

Website Updates

Q: How often is your Website updated? Do you plan to put more on it? Why does it take you so long to get things done?
A: The site is updated whenever we can find time to work on it. You can always check for updates on the Site History page to know if there's anything new since you last visited.
We plan to add a lot more material, including entire books, since so much material disappears on the Internet every day. But, again, the Webmaster only has so much time.
Working on a Website is a time-consuming affair. It takes many hours to bring you the best graphics, music and written material. Whad'ya want for free, anyway?

Graphics on This Questions and Answers page

Q: Why is there a monkey and Groucho Marx on this page?
A: The monkey reminds us how dumb it is to ignore something that's real and that we should feel we can ask anything in our quest for knowledge. Groucho is just here because the Webmaster thought he looked cute and fun. BTW, we don't in any way condone the use of commercial tobacco, folks! Just say no, kids!

Horned saint on the Wheel of the Year page

Q: Who's the dude with the horns on his head? Why does he have horns on his head?
A: Probably Moses because it looks like he's holding the Ten Commandments. Supposedly there was a mistranslation of the word rays in the Pentateuch (like when he came down from the mountain), though we'd like to think there was something more to it! ;) This image is from a stained glass window of the Transfiguration in Chartres Cathedral, by the way.

Seminary Curriculum

Added March 18, 2003

Q: Why isn't there psychological training in your seminary?
A: Because we're rather Orthodox in our view to this pseudoscience. Although everyone knows about Freud's sexual silly views, not so many know about those of Jung, as his family has always desperately tried to cover up not only his sexual deviant behavior and pro-Nazi views, but how badly he hurt people with his techniques. We'd rather concentrate on teaching how to help generally by listening, being supportive and creative than by trying to decide what latest crackpot theories to teach!

Sentient Nature

Added March 18, 2003

Q: I noticed you have stuff like The Secret Life of Plants in your seminary curriculum. Are you a bunch of tree-hugging greens?
A: Uh, yeah. Science has clearly proven in numerous studies that plants are sentient. In Japan, they were even approved for use as lie detectors in courts of law! In addition, there are many passages in the Bible which support this view, which you don't hear quoted by either fundamentalists or liturgical church denominations. Here are a few scriptural quotes:

And the LORD said unto Cain, Where [is] Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: [Am] I my brother's keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now [art] thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand. -- Genesis 4:9-11
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap [their] hands. -- Isaiah 55:12
The trees went forth [on a time] to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. But the olive tree siad unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, [and] reign over us. But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, [and] reign over us. And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, [and] reign over us. And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, [then] come [and] put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon. -- Judges 9:8-15 (Actually, the "trees" here are people, as shown in the sunsequent verse. Here we have another incredible parallel between the Hebrew faith and that of the pagan Celts!)
Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. Fear before him, all the earth; the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let [men] say among the nations, The LORD reigneth. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that [is] therein. Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth. -- 1 Chronicles 16:23-24, 30-33
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw [it], they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree whithered away! Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. -- Matthew 21:19-21 (In traditional Catholic blessings, things that many believe are dead matter are also thus addressed as being able to hear and understand.)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. -- Mark 16:15
If ye continue in the faith grounded and setlled and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; -- Colossians 1:23
