Buffy the Vampire Slayer
(or, "How We All Found Each Other")
The Bronze Cauldron is not a Fan Club, but here's how it happened, over several months time...
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is a sharp-witted, cunningly written dark comedy about a teen-age Cailfornia schoolgirl who becomes the ultimate Slayer of vampires and other dark foes.  I became a fan in 1998, and when I went on-line in 1999, I discovered the Bronze Threaded Posting Board at the official Buffy site.
Because of the frequent mention of Wicca, spell-casting, ritual magick, etc. on the show, there are many, many questions posted at the Bronze board on these subjects.  A few hearty souls (with some experience under their magickal belts) try to answer the questions, but it's time consuming and frustrating.  Yet there is a desire for knowledge, and an equal desire to enlighten the uninformed about the realities of spell-casting, Wicca, and other spiritually-aligned topics.
So I founded "The Bronze Cauldron," a Yahoo! club for magickal fans of Buffy.  The name came from the Bronze Posting Board, which in turn came from the name "The Bronze," a nightclub frequented by the show's characters.
Time passed quickly, and the little club grew.  People got acquainted, sometimes in person.  Communities were found, and knowledge was shared, along with support and sympathy.  We even experienced our first little Witch War, when a few people mistakenly took us for just a bunch of radical TV fans with no real understanding of magick and Paganism.  We stood our ground, stated our purpose, and the dust settled with good feelings and a heightened sense of our place within the on-line community.
"The Bronze Cauldron is not a fan club; it is the sprout that grew from the root of Buffy.  Don't expect to find devout adoration of the show here, but do expect to find criticism, analysis, debate, and discussion of the show's magickal content.  And expect to find other people seeking answers to their questions about Paganism, Wicca/Witchcraft, magick, spell-casting, and many topics of occult nature.  We welcome anyone who's curious and friendly."
